Hey everyone i looked up this site and decided to make an account to ask this, hope this is the right section to post this. my cat has been missing for around 13 hours and im getting real worried.

First off, shes a female, not spayed. shes an indoor cat but sometimes goes out to the roof of my house, we let her because she usually never stay too far and her litter box is outside, so theres not much we can do about her wandering off. anyway we decided to bring her a male companion a few days ago, because she was in heat. they never got along, shes always scared of him and whenever hes around she runs away and hides somewhere. we thought that was normal so we didnt interfere. anyway today i woke up around 8AM and didnt find her, thought she might be on the roof like she usually does, but its now 11PM and she didnt return, normally she returns when its time for her meal, or when she needs to go to her litter box, im really losing hope because i know that the new cat probably scared her, and im afraid hes keeping her from coming back, or because she was scared she went too far and lost the way. the roof is connected to many many other roofs, and other stuff. im not sure if it leads to the street but i really hope it doesnt. so what do i do? like i said its been around 13 hours to be exact, is there still a chance for her to come back? i took the male cat and put him in my bedroom so he wont bother her anymore, hopefully if she sees that the way is clear she'll come back. ive also put some food to try and lure her.

Also i dont live in a country that cares about pets sadly, so putting posters or asking people is a no no. is there anything i can do?

Another thing is that she went missing one time before, it was a busy day and we were all going in and out, she must have slipped when we opened the house door and went outside. she stayed missing for the same time like now around 11-12 hours, luckily, i was on my porch and looking at the street when i spotted her at the apartment's entrance.

Is she chipped and/or wearing a collar and tags? Those are your best bets for getting her back.

I'd go walk around the neighborhood and call for her, even if she doesn't come to you it may help to lead her home. Do that a few times a day, and in between open your door and call to her. Check with any vets, or shelters to see if anyone found her and either turned her in or let them know she's been found.

Nope, but thats the first thing i will do if i find her and i hope i do. its 4AM now and the sun is starting to rise, ill go look for her on the roof with food in my hands and call her name, and then the streets. the owner of the new cat might come to pick him up today too, they just never got along. and i feel like hes the one keeping her from returning.

really hope i find her cause im a mess right now, i keep thinking that its her voice i hear. but when i go out and look theres nothing :(

Still nothing, ive looked all over the roof, ive found 3 cockroaches all dead though very recently, im not sure if this was her picking them off, or they just died normally. or me being oversuspicious haha. i have already done the obvious things you do when your cat goes missing, but i guess my real question is how long can a cat be gone with the chance of coming back? its been 24 hours. keep in mind that she probably is scared of the male cat, so she ran out of fear.

also the good news is that all the roofs are on the same height, and most of the residents here arent home so the chance of someone finding her and keeping her to himself is very slim. and the only wayout from the roofs is through doors which are locked tight. whats worrying me is that, she might have jumped from some edge to another and then into a balcony or something all the way down to the streets. its unlikely since i live on the top floor and looking at the structure of the buildings its pretty hard, but anything is possible when you're a cat.

YES! i found her, our building has 2 entrances, she was on the second one. boy how the hell did she jump all the way down.. i found her sitting in under a plant. and **** i tried to feed her but looks like she hurt herself, she cant walk on her legs. her whole hip is damaged, not eating either. i do not think she has any broken bones. still shes screaming when i hold her from her hip area,  any advice? should i get her any medicine, or get her to the doctor? also if i get her spayed will that decrease the chance of her wandering off on her own? i really appreciate any help guys.

It sounds like she needs the vet immediately. Her leg or hip could be broken and it sounds like she is in a lot of pain :( If the skin is broken open, she may need antibiotics to prevent a bad infection. Cats will jump from pretty amazing heights, and the screaming you described sounds like she's hurt badly :(
And spaying will keep her from wandering off. You might want to schedule a spaying ASAP in case she is pregnant.
She is very pretty, I'm so glad you found her :)

Yeah i will, it definitely looks bad since she cant walk at all. its too late now, but ill take her to a vet tomorrow morning. hope antibiotics will do and she wouldnt need surgery. on my way i might think of buying her a tracking collar just to be safe she wont get lost from us again.

and we managed to get her back because a neighbor who found her called us and told us about her, so if anyone ever loses his cat, be sure to check in with your neighbors.

and thanks for the help, ill update on what happens next.

AND... shes lost.. again, thats the 3rd time now. she was getting good and everything, the vet checked on her and just yesterday she started walking, although her left leg was still damaged but she was making huge progress. today my stupid family decided to let her out, and LEAVE HER ALONE. they came back and saw her on the roof and couldnt catch up with her. its been 5 hours since shes been missing, i checked everywhere, including the spot she was hiding in the last time. nothing. im still convinced that this is a spaying issue, she is not spayed yet. and my family wont listen to me on anything i say, they refused to get her even a tracking collar or change her litter box location. we went there way since we brought her and since has been lost 3 times and damaged her legs. amazing how people can be so ignorant.. if i find her again i swear ill never let them have their way again.

One question: WHY would you get a male while she was in heat? Being in heat is already a good enough reason for her to wander away, and then you've got a male that she doesn't like trying to mate with her and she's even more desperate to run. BAD BAD BAD choice there.

I agree that you need to put your foot down and tell your family that they need to do what is best for their pet, not themselves. Such small little changes could have prevented this. Now, it's like you all have created a mountain out of a mole hill.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh. I am just trying to get across what is important. Best of wishes for your girl!

Not harsh at all. Its a bad choice but like i said i had no say in it. i already anticipated that she might behave this way. anyways the male cat was already gone the night we found her, ( when she damaged her hip) the last time she escaped was because she was let out on the roof alone. either ways i managed to find her nearby. and decided to not let her get access to the roof anymore now. and she recovered by the way, starting to walk normally again. but her jumping and running is less frequent.

Good news.  Sounds like she's almost ready for her spaying!  That will certainly keep her from trying to escape again.
