Are you interested in doing the Tuesday question of the day? This spot is open! Just PM me. :)

Today's question is -

Is there a color of clothing that you rarely buy for yourself because you don't like it or it isn't flattering?

I rarely buy red or yellow clothing for myself. I never used to buy orange either, but I did buy a few shirts this summer that had an orange print.

I rarely buy anything in the peachy or orange tones. It just doesn't go too well with my skin tones.

Like you both, probably something in orange or yellow or any neon-bright colors as far as that goes. Not particularly fond of an all-black outfit (although I do have a black skirt that I just love to wear with a white blouse and red heels) and I simply can't do all-white either.....I'm too sloppy. I wore a white pair of pants out to dinner one night.....and sat in chocolate cake. I don't know how I did it, but I did it. Tried to clean the pants and ended up having to toss them in the trash. I really liked those pants, too. Such a klutz I am.

OTOH, I've been a redhead pretty much all my life. And despite the fact that my mother always told me never to wear red or plum or burgundy, I love those colors and wear them every chance I get. Since I've gotten old(er), my stylist has lightened my hair quite a bit to try to mask the white hair roots; I've been surprised at how well my lighter hair matches with my skin tone. When I was shopping yesterday, I bought a plum-colored sweater. When I tried it on, I was amazed at how good it looked on me. When I went out into the store to look into the mirror, another customer came over and said, "That sweater just looks perfect on you! Must be all that blonde hair!" Blonde? I'm a blonde?? When did that happen?? (I'd give anything to be able to go back to my darker hair. But the white would start to come out in about a week or so and I can't handle that either.)

I never look good in yellow. I'm a blonde ( and always will be!) I've found my BEST color to be a dark aquamarine, every time I wear that color people say I look good. When I where yellow (or try to wear less make-up) they always ask if I feel good!

Pink. I have rebelled against this color since infancy much to the dismay of my mother who loved how it looked on me with my skin and dark hair.

I never buy purple. I don't like it at all. My daughter looks really good in purple, but it is not my colour.

I don't often wear yellow or DEFINITELY not any yellow-green!  It makes my skin look yellow or yellow green!  Actually just putting my hand next to DH's makes me look yellow.  And he looks pink.  I guess it's the Italian/Greek genes.
I'm a fair complexion; but I do tan well so it's good for something I guess!  I also can't wear light pink; but I do wear bright pinks without problem.   Olive green looks good on me too.  I had one yellow print shirt in high school that looked good on me too.  But I've found nothing since!

DH could commiserate with you there.  He was a redhead when I married him; but apparently going prematurely WHITE runs in his family.  He looks blond today because of how all the white is working it's way though his hair.  But it is letting him wear more colors of clothing.  Or maybe that's me dressing him.

Pink  - I have nothing against the colour personally, but the thing is it tends me make me look really young. I'm in my mid-20's but I look younger (People very often mistake me for 16 or 17) so I make sure to take care on what I wear at times. Pink is one of the things does that for me! I'll end up looking 14!

It is a pity in a sense since I'm told pink really looks nice on me. But the only time I would wear full pink is in dance, when it is required for things like costumes. But I don't mind at all in this case! Very small price to pay.

In the end it isn't bad at all looking younger, but still, for things like serious jobs and so forth you don't want to look like a complete teenager. It's a balancing act.

Other colours....

Orange, greens, purple, pee colour/mustard or dark yellow, brown, grey. They either make me look sickly/ tired, washed out, or just don't do anything altogether. Colours that look best/great on me are red, black, pinks, bright yellows, blues and white/ivory.

Yellow makes me look sick, and that kind of dusky, damask rose shade just disappears against my skin and I look all washed out - oh, and with my hair died copper/ginger it looks even more horrid.

Add me to the yellow list.  I'm blonde, rather fair skinned - it just looks terrible on me.

However, gold looks good.  So, it depends on the tone I guess.  Deeper, darker hues of yellows are ok - and actually I look great in orange. Go figure.

I don't buy a lot of green either although I look good in it.  Kelly green I mean.  Not a fan of that one shade of it.

No red for me either. I'm fair skinned with a pink under tone, so it does not look good on me! I don't really do yellow, navy, or orange colors either.

I just started wearing pink a few yrs. ago, but it has to be the right shade, sense I have red hair.

:lol3::lol3::lol3: I can relate. I've been putting blonde highlights in my hair for a few years now. My hair has been getting lighter and lighter. The past six months or so it has been getting way too blonde. I have been telling my hairdresser to put more lowlights in and when my hair is wet you can clearly see them, but when t is dry, it's all blonde. After having a few people describe me as a blonde, I was quite surprised. When I went to have my hair done last week I was more adamant about wanting more brown and I definitely got it! :lol3: I am very close to my natural brown color now. Some of it may wash out over time and it may get a bit lighter. It's a big change and every time I look in the mirror it is a shock. :lol3: Different color clothes do look a lot different now too.

I love all the jeweltones, plus black and grey. I will wear white if I'm in Texas or Texas-like heat in the summer, but otherwise not. I won't wear pastels or neon, or anything yellow or orange, looks terrible with my skin. I'm super-picky about patterns and there are very few I will wear. Lately I'm really into ruby reds and very deep (almost black) purples.
