my experience getting my first female cat spayed is not a good one but it has now gone from bad to worse. my girl was taken to get spayed by the rescue i got her from. when i get her back i didn't get any follow up info or anything about what they did. when i got her home i looked at her incision and noticed it looked really messy and weird. i worked at a vets office for 3 months as a co-op student and every spay i saw done the incision was always straight. even after being stitched. her incision looked like harry potters scar. so i contacted the girl who took her to get spayed and asked what they used for stitched and she told me she requested them to only be glued shut! that made me really mad. today i looked at her incision and a lump has formed at the base of her incision. i now think a hernia has formed because she was only glued shut. is this possible? i am gonna take her to my normal vet this week. the only reason i sent her to be spayed with the rescue was because it was $70 in stead of $300. i am now regretting that decision. so yes or no on the hernia? i am so worried.

The little knot is most likely scar tissue or a build up of fluid.  My Hannah had that when she was spayed.  They used dissolvable stitches and surgical glue.  Keep an eye on it and if you notice it getting red and angry looking, the whole incision getting hard, or hot then she needs to get to the vet.

A knot is fairly common at this point in the healing process. I've had very few females who didn't get a knot at some point after the surgery. I think it's the internal stitches starting to dissolve. Give her time to heal up and for everything to dissolve before worrying about it. . .I bet it's normal.
