my husband and I visit often a family that has several feral cats. they all seem to be sick! sneezing, goopy eyes and coughing. they are very thin. people keep dropping them off there and they don't have the money to take them to a vet and there are no shelters willing to help them. My question is, cash I transfer their illnesses to my cat on my shoes? I am so scared, I spray them each time I leave with Lysol but I don't think my husband is as diligent as I am. He is always so busy he just forgets until he walks into the house. My cat, Tom, has sneezed a couple of times and seems to be sleeping more than normal and I'm concerned! thank you for any and all help

Yes, some viruses can be carried in on your clothes, shoes, and hands.  If your kitty is healthy and you come in and change clothes, spray down shoes, and wash your hands, I don't think you'll transfer anything.

ugh, hubby!

if you go often, ask your friends to set up a disinfectant rag/mat outside their door so you can wipe your feet as you leave their house.

and don't worry :)

what i meant by that is a litterbox or shallow pan with a rag covered in disinfectant. we used these at the cat refuge...
