I adopted a cat three weeks ago one September 24th who was just today diagnosed with chamidiya
It was a terrifying day when my stray of two years came up to my door step with one eye one morning
Me and my sister stayed outside with her until my grandfather came to pick us up to take the cat to the vet
My research of "chamidiya in cats" lead me to this site and I was hoping for all the advice I can get
I never knew that chamidiya in cats was possible until today.

Also check out her picture/description and a picture of my other cat on my profile :)

Hi, welcome to TCS!   DH and I rescued a kitten that was born with chlamydia (Cocoa) from a very bad situation.  She was tiny, living outside among a dozen or more cats and kittens, virtually blind, and starving.  The larger cats would not let her eat and would slap her if she tried.  We caught her and took her to the vet. "What a pretty kitten," he said and then she turned around and he saw her eyes.  They were in terrible condition.  He prescribed some ointment and said he thought one eye could be saved.  The other was too far gone.  I had asked my parents if they would take her if we paid for her vet bills, spaying, etc.  DH and I had six cats at the time and felt we couldn't take another.  Though they liked cats, they didn't really want one.  However, they felt sorry for her and agreed to the deal.  Cocoa turned out to be one of the most intelligent cats I've ever known.  She loved my dad especially and lived a long, happy life.  She was probably over 20 when she crossed the Bridge.  The most problem she seemed to have related from the loss of her eye to chlamydia was that her eye frequently leaked clear fluid.  My mom would clean her face for her with a cloth.  Also, we took care when approaching her from her blind side, so as not to startle her.  But she could do anything a fully sighted cat could do.  I hope I haven't talked your ear off.  If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer if I can.

Well at the moment she is at the vet and should be getting her meds in a week

I'm mainly worried about how long it would take her to recover...and since she has this infection, how easy is it for the infection to past to my other cat(whom I've had for almost 13yrs)

I haven't introduce them yet either, and my older cat IS NOT as friendly as my new cat lol

I'm very nervous for them to meet especially since my new cat has this infected/injured eye
