Hello! We've just added. A kitten to our family. She is 8 wks old black and white and her name is Neko. As adorable as she is I just can not mask the litter smell. It's not her pooping in it its the litter itself. Straight out of the bag fresh the litter arm and hammer is so strong its horrible. Any advice on a cat litter that doesbt smell and helps mask potty smells as well. We live in a townhouse and there's not a lot of places to put a litter box that's out of the way. So plz I need litter that doesn't smell. All advice is greatly appreciated!

Tidy cat is a good litter choice. I prefer the light blue, dark blue or orange top ones myself. I use this litter, along with a litter called "Fresh & Natural" that I get via a holistic pet food store. I and my cats prefer the "Fresh & Natural"...they like the fine texture, I like the price ($12.74 for a 40lb bag) and it is lightly scented. It clumps tightly and the odor control is good.

I would stay away from Fresh Step and Scoop Away (very dusty and strong fragrance.) There are several unscented litters; although, I do not know how good they are with odor control.

There are several threads on the site about litter brands. It basically comes down to what you like (smell, odor control, price) and what your cat will use (some cats are pickier about litter than others.)

Hi, welcome to TCS!  It's nice to meet you.  I agree with CatPack...it will probably take a bit of trial and error before you find a brand you like.  I have a number of relatives with cats and we all seem to buy different brands of litter.  I would recommend buying litter in the smallest bags/boxes available until you find the brand that best suits you and your cat.
