Our year and a half old torie Morgan has been pulling her hair out on her back leg and along her tail. She is chewing at it so much that there are some pretty horrible scabs. It started with just a small one and we have been applying Dr. Maggie's skin care ointment for pets. It seems to soothe her for a while but she has obviously still been chewing at other areas.

Today, it is a lot worse than it has been. Morgan does seem to have some un-diagnosed anxiety issues.. Whenever we leave the apartment she will try to run out the door.. when she realizes we are gone she will being howling and scratching at the door. We do have another cat, Puma, but she does not seem to be enough company for Morgan.

I was wondering if anyone has seen or experienced this hair pulling and scabs? Does this sound like it may be an aspect of an anxiety issue? Or something completely unrelated? Any feedback would be wonderful.

Cheers

Poor girl!!  This looks painful.  I would get her to the vet right away to get her some relief.  Then, try an all-natural litter such as World's Best Cat Litter or Blue Buffalo's litter.  Also, try a Feliway plug-in to help with the anxiety or try using some of the products from Spirit Essences.
