I may not be new to TCS but Sissy and Hootie are so I'll give their background here. My husband and I got them from a friend in May of 2012 when they were around 8 weeks old. Hootie almost died while she was living in her birth home (why I don't know) but she was nursed back to health by our friend and was healthy when we adopted her. Sissy actually went to another home first, before mine, but there was a young child there that didn't yet know how to handle a kitten properly and I guess it cause problems within the family so Sissy came to us as well. After a few weeks of being with us Sissy fell ill, she wouldn't eat, was lethargic and losing weight. I managed to get her to eat baby food (which was how Hootie was nursed back to health) and Sissy got better. They both had fleas and tape worms so I had to treat those, the tape worms were hard to get rid of! Now they are both 19 months old and very healthy and happy!
