Jed barfed today after eating his morning meal. He's an easy eater; eats pretty much anything I put down for him. I adopted him from the shelter a month ago, and within a couple of days managed to get him off dry food at the shelter to 100% canned food. I feed Wellness Core, and he gobbles up all the different flavors that I tried.

Week before last I started giving him raw food (Feline's Pride) occasionally, which he finishes every time. However, the last couple of days he seems to not finish his meal. He usually eats a little, runs around the house or bugs me for petting, then goes back to finish the food a few minutes later. Sometimes he "goes back" 3 or 4 times, but usually finishes it within the hour. Last couple of days though, he still "goes back" to eat, but he doesn't finish it all anymore.

I didn't mind too much as he is overweight (14 lbs) and I've been feeding him 5.5 oz a day. So I put out less food and he finishes it. But this morning he barfed on the carpet. It was the Wellness Indoor Formula, which he used to have no problem with. He isn't lethargic and seems alert (just finished a training session). His stool doesn't look any different this morning. I called the vet and they said it's normal, but to keep an eye on him. As a new adopter, I don't quite know what is considered abnormal, so I don't really know what to look out for.

Should I be concerned?

Vomiting is always cause for concern as it's not good for the kitty.  It's possible that it could be caused by change in food or if the kitty caught a bug or something, but keep an eye on your kitty and note what you feed and when it happens, if he throws up again.

Keep a pad of paper right by where you feed Jed. Write down what you fed and the time. Then if he pukes, note that and the time also. You should quickly get an idea what is causing him to yak, if it is the food.
