Happy Tuesday everyone!

I was going through one of my closets last week and came across my father's old uniform jacket. So today's question is:

Have you ever had a job where you had to wear a uniform?

I was a waitress for three months and had to wear one of those white uniforms, kind of like the pink one Flo wore in the show "Alice". :lol3: After that I worked in a drug store for four years while in college and had to wear a smock. After college my first job was in a manufacturing facility. Because my desk was in the plant, I had to wear steel toed shoes. My next job was also at a manufacturing plant and even though I was in the office, we could not wear open-toed shoes. We also couldn't wear jewelry other than a watch and wedding ring because it was a jewelry manufacturer.

As a teen l worked cash at a grocery store where we had to wear hideous nylon uniforms.

Now l work in a Wafer Fab cleanroom, so we are covered from head to toe in anti-static cleanroom suits, with no exposed skin.

In high school I made pizza and had a red shirt and visor to wear. After that I was uniform free until I was unemployed for a year (this was about a year and a half ago.) While I job hunted I worked at Walmart and at Target for awhile. I have more red and navy shirts than I know what to do with. I have to be careful how I dress when I go shopping because if I have khaki pants and one of thse shirts on people will stop me to ask for help. :)

Oh yes! One Sheriff's Dept. I wore the classic brown polyester, another one I wore BDU's and polos. I wore any scrubs while working in a histology lab, and I wore scrubs that were washed/cared for by the hospital when I worked an externship in the OR.

Yes, quite a few. I worked at Boston Pizza where I had to wear a chefs jacket with matching pants, Tim Hortons with their ugly uniforms (the old ones), Zellers was a uniform shirt, Subway was a uniform shirt.

My first job was at Dairy Queen and we had to wear one of their shirts.  Another place we had to wear denim button down tops and khaki pants; but it wasn't a straight uniform in the same way.  Shoes had to be white, brown or black but could be any style with a closed toe.  You could also do a khaki skirt.  The other places I've worked have either been business casual or scrubs; but not uniform scrubs.  I got to wear some really cute ones!

I don't miss wearing a uniform; but DH always has and it does make life and laundry simpler for me.  But then he washes his own uniforms so that's mostly why.

Currently.  It's incredibly annoying to make sure I have specific work clothes clean at all times.  I really just need to buy more pants that would work, but I don't really have it in my budget unless they're super cheap at Marshall's or something.  I don't make much money at all and most of it goes to things like car payment or other necessary purchases.

I work at Starbucks.

Yes, I was an unarmed night security guard at a high rise office bldg. in Encino, Calif. back about 1980. I had to wear their uniform shirt & pants with a silver shield pin on the front pocket. It was an easy job & had alot of down time. I remember it paying $4 an hour which was considered a decent wage back then!

Yes, 2 actually.

The first was when I was 17 and worked in a restaurant in the cafeteria side. We had brown dresses with white aprons.

The next was when I was a ward nurse in a hospital.

Where I work now, the dress code is "office casual" and wer are required to wear a lab coat, but most of us don't. I don't because I find them too hot and I sweat buckets when I wear full length sleeves.

Back when I was in college I worked as a short-order cook/waitress and had to wear a light blue smock and white jeans. It didn't really bother me, because I'd had to wear a uniform in high school.

Never had a job where I had to wear a uniform, but I always thought it might be nice and save on clothing budget.

My first official job  at 16 years old was at Subway, so definitely a unfirom there! :)

Afterward, I worked at many student summer jobs at various museums. When I worked at Parks Canada at a historical fort, my daily attire was a 1840's soldiers uniform (Rifle included, I was ceritified) and two dresses. If it is raining though, or if we had to do errands, we would wear a modern uniform that was a beige dress shirt, green pants and brown shoes instead of the historical outfits.

At other museums, I had a burgundy golf shirt at one place and a light blue one at another. Pants were flexible, as long as they were pants (No shorts of course) and appropriate footwear.

Not a job, but as a student training for my job I had to wear one.  An evil outfit with wide flare Crimplene trousers and equally vile tunic top. I vowed there and then never to get a job where I had to wear the uniform.

Currently looking at changing the type of work I've always done and may end up having to wear one soon, but anything has to be better than staying in my current job so will have to take what comes (even if it's no job at all)....

Lets see.. I've worked at several retail stores that require I wear their store shirts (with jeans or khakis). Does that count as an uniform?

I also had to wear a uniform suit as a building security guard in Manhattan. I had to wear their shoes, pants, shirt, tie (bow tie). I wasn't allowed to wear anything fancy in my hair if I wanted it pulled back or jewelry.

Currently at my PT Retail Job at The Container Store, I have to wear their shirt (I have a nice selection of shirts to choose from, though I have to pay for it).. and depends on the job title for the day, either a fanny pack (merchandising) or blue apron (sales/register)

My FT job, I can wear whatever I want!

I work as a clerk at the Post Office so I do have a uniform and get a uniform allowance for it. But I end up buying my own pants (gray or navy blue) and shoes (black) because the uniform pants and shoes are SO UGLY!!! Honestly, the pants look like something MC Hammer would have worn :lol3:. So I spend the whole uniform allowance on shirts and sweaters :tongue2:.

When I carry mail (it's a small office and we all do what needs doing), I don't wear a uniform. But my postmaster bought me a few polos with the USPS logo so i don't look like a total imposter ;).
