My number one hobby has been genealogy. I am not currently working on it. In the past I traced my dad's side of the family back to 1790 when the first Federal Census was done in the US. I wrote a book on that family and published it in 2001

Hook rugging. I want to finish a rug that I told my grandson I would finish 10 years ago.

I love sewing, especially making costumes. I didn't have a sewing machine for several years when I was a poor college student, so giving it up during that time was not by choice.

I sew to relax, I wish I could just "relax and do nothing" but I have to be doing something constructive at all times.

Reading, but nowadays I don't seem to have as much time to read as I used to. I hooked rugs for a number of years, but stopped due to wrist problems.

I love reading at the library cause it is so quite there. I go in a corner and try to relax.

I love to read also -- but have been really lazy lately. Have to get to the library and get some good books.

Fun question!

I don't really feel like I have any hobbies anymore.  I miss the "me" time of it too.  I go through spells where I read a lot and that is probably my #1 hobby. But I also love doing anything crafty.  Just whatever strikes my mind to do.  I've done everything from painting on canvas to murals, Christmas ornaments, switch plates, a little sewing, I've made trinket and jewelry boxes, floral arrangements...  That's all I can think of right now.  I just love doing crafty stuff.

I think my hobby is walking. Seriously. There's something about being outside around the neighborhood, saying hello to people and (especially) their dogs. I probably look forward to my daily walks more than anything else I do.

If we didn't have the cats, I'd probably start in with house plants again. I always loved having a ton of plants in the house, taking care of them, watching them bud out and then flower. Watching for baby spider plants. Trying to propagate African violets from leaves, trying to root avocado seeds, the whole bit. I loved doing that.

I had a prayer plant that was easily 3-4 feet across....that was before Hydrox started peeing in it. He eventually killed it. He killed my orange trees and my lantana trees, too....he kept using the pots as litter boxes and we couldn't stop him. Between him peeing in everything and then the other cats chewing on leaves and eating the plants and then having to worry about which ones might be poisonous or might make somebody sick, I just got rid of all of them.

I do have some plants here at work; my cube is full of spiders, pothos, and African violets. I'm trying to grow another prayer plant, too. It looks nice, but it's nothing like the one I used to have. It's blooming, though, so it must be healthy.

Mom gave me my grandma's old Christmas cactus about three years ago. That cactus is about 60 years old. She got it and couldn't get it to bloom. Finally, she got so disgusted, she threw it outside for awhile. Then she started feeling bad about it so she went back out and got it and gave it to me. I can't have it at home, so I have it in our main planning room at work. I just took a picture of it this morning; it's blooming like crazy right now. For me, it usually blooms in October, followed by a smaller blooming period around the end of November. Then it will bloom only one or two flowers in mid February or so. Then it's done until October again.

This one is my cactus. It was given to me by my co-worker's mom. When my co-worker had to have an ACL replaced in his knee, I made sure he had plenty of food for meals and such. His mom thought that was really nice, so she gave me a small Christmas cactus. It's blooming right now, too. It's the same color. Can't take it home so it lives in the planning room, too. It needs to be transplanted into a bigger planter, but I keep letting it go....it blooms more if it's a wee bit root bound.

Right now my hobby seems to be caring for animals with problems. lol. I have an aggressive cat who poops on the floor, my mice are barbering (over groom until they lose their hair), and fish had dropsy. Although it turns out one may actually be having babies (wish you could neuter/spay fish lol).

Now that some of these things are calming down I have a few books I'd like to read and tons of yarn so I may be making some blankets for Angel soon. She LOVES yarn blankets.

I used to run. I could do 6 miles pretty easily. I was in a 10 K race once. I couldn't wait until my kids were old enough to run with me. Well that was 5 years and 50 lbs ago, but my son has been waiting for this since he was 6. Now he loves running and wants to run that race. I know I'll love it once I get going but starting to run is the worst. I made a promise though and I'm going to do my best to keep it... wish me luck. :)
