I saw a thread from '11 here stating Purina One is bad.  Is this still valid? (Sorry, I didn't want to bump a 2year thread)

If it is, what do you recommend for dry food? (Also, should I get them wet food too? Right now I buy wet food as a treat)

Cats are obligate carnivores which means that they must get their nutrition from animal sources. If you look at the ingredients for Purina One and pretty much all dry foods, you will find ingredients that cats just have no nutritional need for like corn, wheat, soy, rice, peas, and potatoes. Cats need a diet high in animal protein, moderate fat and low to no carbs. Most dry foods are way too high in carbs. If you must feed some dry, the best dry foods I know of are Wysong Epigen 90, Young Again Zero Carb and Ziwipeak.

However, I would recommend an all wet diet (or as much wet as your budget allows). www.catinfo.org is a site written by a vet that explains why wet food is so important. It also has a very handy comparison chart of commercial wet foods commonly available in the US.

I can definatly afford an all wet diet, however I have heard an all wet diet can affect the strength of their teeth. Or is that not true?

There is absolutely no research that supports that dry food is any better for teeth than wet. I am on my phone so I can't link it, but if you go to www.littlebigcat.org, another site written by a vet, and search dry food for teetg, you will find an article which explains it in more detail.

You could do a combo diet, I feed my kitten 90%wet and 10% dry. I like to feed Wellness Core dry. Its gluten and grain free. Dry lasts longer if you feed primairly wet. I would feed mostly wet if not all wet.

Which Purina One do you feed? From what Ive read they have corn gluten meal, whole grain corn, all which arent needed in cat food. They also contain Brewers rice&soybean meal. I've read that Brewers rice is the cheapest type of rice added to food for just filler, I've also read that soybean meal could cause cats allergic reactions and its harder for them to digest. I would suggest you switch to a different dry, like Wellness Core. Also add more wet food to their diet like Wellness, Evo, Soulistic, Fancy Feast (Classic line only) Friskies (mixed grill).
