My cat gave birth to two still born kittens yesterday around noon. The vet was closed and I didn't have enough money for her to be taken to the hospital! She wasn't in pain and passed each no problem and eat the kittens! They were as big as my thumb! She panted for about 20 minutes after she was done and then was energetic but she has been acting depressed and has been following me around non stop!
She just turned a year and went into heat to early! The whole time I told her how great she was doing and is a great mom!

Is there any problems I should watch for?
What else can I do to help her not be depressed and make her feel she did what was needed an wasn't her fault?

Cats don't think like we do.  She doesn't have the concept of it being 'her fault'.  Her hormones are all over the place which might be why she is clingy, or she might feel you need comforting.  Hopefully you will get her spayed ASAP which will prevent a repeat.

BTW she didn't 'go into heat too early'.  Many cats have their first call (heat) at 6 months or so.

Keep an eye for any signs of infection - lethargy, noxious or heavy bloody discharge, pale gums, being in pain, not passing urine in a day or two.

And do remember she could come back into call very soon - days or weeks.  Keep her in until she is spayed.

I've read that you have to wait 6 weeks to get her spayed after miscarriage. Is that true?
I had plans to get her fixed and then she got pregnant before I got the appointment which I had to wait for almost two months! I tried my best to keep her inside but sadly my family doesn't pay attention all the time doesn't help she's black lol

nay, hardly so.  Perhaps in the ideal world of worlds a good recovery time is nice and well, but in our practical world...   The same, if you see them mate, it is not = ah, pregnant, now she must deliver them...

Go to the scheduled spaying anyway.  Or even try and get a sooner time.

Unless she is high preg where spaying IS unpleasant....

Good luck!

ps.  Whole 6 weeks in the saying may also be, sometimes there are still living kittens inside after miscarriage.

So if you want them alive, it is best to wait and see.

The same happens sometimes at the delivery:  one comes out alive or dead, but you see there seems to be one or more left.

If mom is OK, no troubles, everyone contend - you can wait for the others...  Without rushing to the vet.

That one who come out may be premature, the others coming in their proper time.  Or the one delivered may be entirely healthy and alive, nursing as he shall...

The key is, as long as mom seems to be fully OK, you dont need to be too anxious.  Keep in touch with your vet, but dont need to panic.  But if there are any problems with mom - sound the larm bells...

Ask your vets, and why on earth did you have to wait so long for the appointment?

I called a whole two months before the appointment they said they were booked for spaying and neutering :/ but i got her in today at 215 pm due to the fact she started bleeding again chunks of flesh was with the blood an it seemed as tho she was in labor but this time she hide from me. When she went into labor two days ago she pretty much gave birth on me. I couldn't move or she's follow!! So I'm hoping she isn't harmed further! She does feel like there are still kittens in her but for the past 16 hrs she was acting fine wasn't crying completely normal she acted as if she won a fight and was celebrating!

If I rung a vet and was told it was 2 months before they could find time to spay or castrate a cat I'd be looking for another vet.  I'd be prepared to go quite some distance to get my cat spayed or castrated.  I'd be complaining about the vet to the RCVS as well.

Good you went to the vets as she had now problems.   Lets hope the vet will help her, and lets hope for a good recovery.

Keep reporting!

*vibes!*

She just has extra stuff that needs passed she got a shot to help her slog! She's sleepy but that good shell get better now!!
And unfortunately not everyone has the resources and money to just travel the world to get their cat fixed! I myself am pregnant and had preterm labour scares, along with being full time student, non reliable car and hubby who is on the road 90% of the time!

Unfortunately that is very thrue.

This is thus another good motive for spaying in time.  Spaying is usually not for free, but it is an excellent way to try and cut down some of the costs and worries.

It does costs to live.  So it also costs to be a good animal owner.  And it costs to keep your friends.

Good luck!

Seriously, the cost of driving 50 miles each way to get a cat spayed is far less than the cost of raising an accidental litter of kittens, and far far less than the cost of a section in the unlikely event of the cat needing one.  Is there really a bit of the US more than 50 miles from a vet with less than a 2-month wait for a spay?

So far as I can tell there are quite a few vets less than 10 miles of where you give as your location.
