Hi, I recently switched my cats to Blue Buffalo Wilderness grain free, Indoor. I thought I had made a  great choice, it even had L-Lysine in the ingredients which I have just started supplementing. Then I read online about horrible experiences people have had with this food. All these people who claim it killed their cats and even the dog variety making dogs sick!! I'm terrified to give them another bite of it. I love my cats and my two dogs , but I cant imagine finding the time to make homemade food. I run a daycare, have two kids of my own and barely have time to breath most days! So in other words Id love to know some suggestions on some great grain free food options that I can buy from a pet supply store. There are tons of pet supply stores in my area, so there are lots of options. I kind of wanted to stay away from primarily fish formulas.  Thanks for any help you can give :)

I personally feed Nature's Variety Instinct and NOW Fresh (made by the same company that makes Orijen) for dry. I also feed Wellness and Simply Nourish (Petsmart's brand) wet food.

I am very much against an all dry diet (www.catinfo.org for reasons why), so I would try to include as much wet food as possible. Friskies pates and Fancy Feast pates are good cheaper options. If you must include dry food, the best ones I know of are Ziwipeak, Wysong Epigen 90 and Young Again Zero Carb.

There are commercial raw options as well, either frozen raw like Nature's Variet Instinct or freeze-dried raw like Stella & Chewy's. The freeze-dried raw is really easy. They come in dry nuggets that you add water and serve.

We feed Innova EVO canned and Taste of the Wild and Blue Buffalo something or other dry.    They all get only a little bit of dry food daily and get most of their nutrition via the canned food.  We have also fed Wellness grain free canned and Wellness CORE dry in the past.

Thanks for the response. I guess I should have mentioned that my cats all eat wet food as well. I have given then Iams(they didn't love), Presidents Choice extra meats, Special Kitty( Walmart brand),Friskies(they loved). My two younger cats would probably love to eat people food, however I'm afraid making a commitment to homemade would be to much work right now. I work about 50 hours per week from home, then of course there are the chores and jobs of being a parent to my two kids, as well as the work created by 5 pets!! So commercially prepared it is. In terms of wet food I am trying to find something of good quality I can get in bulk. My Costco only carries the Friskies by the case and half of it is the fish variety.

I see you are in Canada.  Have you checked out Petcurean products...such as Go! Fit+Free?  They are priced mid range here in the US, wonder what prices are in Canada.  They don't have a ton of flavors, but the one I have purchased (Chicken Turkey Duck pate) went over pretty well with my picky eater.  In fact, that one smells so good if I was starving....I could eat it.

ETA: whoops, didn't see you were looking for bulk purchases - but once you find something that works, you can hunt around for mail order sources.   Some offer free shipping and if you order enough, you save a bit.

Is their a Dollar Tree in Canada? My Dollar Tree has Friskies (13oz can) For obviously a dollar! XD I love to stock up on Mixed Grill Friskes when I stop by Dollar Trees. Do you guys have Save-A-Lots in Canada? Because they have a store brand similar to friskies in ingredients, difference is they mention meat higher up on their list then Friskies. They sell 13.3oz cans for .85 cents their. Another cheap grain and fish free brand I like is Soulistic (Exclusively for PetCo)   Autumn Bounty &Good Karma have NO fish in them, &all their products are grain free. Pretty cheap for the quality too. Do you have a PetCo in Canada? I like to feed Wellness Core Dry food its grain free. Another wet I like to serve is Wellness wet, I can send you some Amazon links of the big cans of wellness wet with free shipping, best prices ive seen thus far. Not sure if thier still the same since your in canada, but worth checking out. You could also buy boxes of Fancy Feast Classics on Petco.
