My cat is maybe itching a bit more than normal.  It hasn't seemed excessive.

I am only concerned about fleas now because my ankles have been really itchy lately.

I think i have a few tiny bumbs on my ankles, but they could have been caused simply

by the scratching

My cat sleeps on my bad on a sheet in the corner, so I'm worried she transferred

some fleas to my bed.  I took a fine cat brush and tried to look in the fur, but couldn't

see anything.  My eyesight isn't the greatest, so I'm not sure if I would be able to see them

or not.

I just moved & don't have a vet in the area.  I'd like to try & figure this out on my own.

Is there a test I can buy to test for fleas?

What should I do.

Thanks

You could put her on some white/light paper or a towel and comb her with a fine-toothed (flea) comb. If you get dark specks, wet them a little and see whether they turn reddish-brown. Flea dirt contains digested blood, hence the color.
This article is useful: Flea Control

Whatever you do, don't buy over-the-counter flea products. The Web is full of accounts of pets dying after their application. You could call the local shelter(s) and ask them to recommend a vet. They generally know who's good. Do any of your neighbors have pets? Asking them whom they go to would be a good way of getting to know people.
