Hello

this is my first time posting here. My older cat Sam (who might be 13 or 14 yrs) spent the day at the vet. He is also diabetic.

When I woke up this morning he was stuck in a shelf and when I released him, he was extremely disoriented. He was walking around my apartment into circles, he wasn't reacting to food or to his favorite toys. He eventually bumped into the food bowl and water and ate/drank a little but he continued to venture the apartment in this strange behavior and breathing heavily. He eventually found the litter box and used it (not in the spot of the box he usually uses though). I also checked his glucose and he test 241.

I took him to the clinic I have a monthly plan with, but he was seen by a new staff vet. I just spoke to her over the phone and she said he is fine. She examined his eyes and she didn't see anything that could indicate a stroke. He didn't walk weird and choose a spot against the wall to stay.

I told her this is good news BUT he must have something. She said maybe his glucose levels were too low which I told her it wasn't. She then said "well he is fine now, I don't know what he was doing in the morning". Her mind didn't inquire what else he could have.

I'll pick him up in about 2 hrs and I'm not sure what to do!

Does any of you have had any similar experience with your cat and what was the outcome?

Who knows, maybe he is fine now but I'm frustrated she was expecting a show from him when the clinic is not his home where he can be himself (even though he wasn't himself this morning).

Any thoughts??

I guess I should add his head wasn't tilted in any direction. As he was walking around his head was down if he was looking/sniffing something.

Don't know if this is any help but I have a cat that bit an electrical cord.  He walked around all freaked out, licking at nothing, kind of twitchy, disoriented.  This happened at night and by the next day he was back to normal. Hope yours is this easy and simple.

ps. hit my head on an electric fence while I was in a ditch and it was raining.  I walked around like I was lost for a while.
