He or she is contributing to the food supply!

Has your daughter seen the cat during the day?  How does the cat react to seeing her?  If it doesn't run, it may be a stray or a neighbor's cat that is allowed outside.  She may want to investigate this and have the cat fixed if it doesn't have an owner.   The cat has adopted your daughter's family and will most likely continue to bring food supplies.

If it's female, she may have kittens (now or in future).  If it's male, he may begin territorial behaviors (spraying, fighting, etc).  Either way, fixing the cat is the best approach.

Good luck - and welcome to TSC.

Yes, I agree with both posters above.  That ferale has adopted your daughters family, or is by any reason convinced they had adopted him...  They perhaps do give it some food and shelter?  Or at least, leave much useful in the trash bin?   Something it must be it is feeling to belong.

OR possibly, it wants to please himself in.

To spay/neuter it is nr 1, its good in all variations and by a multiple of reasons.

If they want to adopt it as their own loved outside cat, or even as inside cat, is another question.  I do hope they want.

Good luck!

Are these intact rats and mice, or at least partially eaten? It's hard to imagine a feral leaving a perfectly good, edible mouse behind. Sounds more like the actions of a well-fed cat. Unless... she's bringing them to kittens somewhere close by the driveway, gets scared and releases the food?

That is so cute. Maybe he is looking for a friend and smells your cat. It would be nice if you had a screen door and could allow them to greet safely, with supervision of course! If he doesn't have a owner and you want to introduce your a cat you might want to take him to get his shots and fixed if he is the opposite sex. I know where I live they have programs for ferals and strays that is dirt cheap.

I never knew feral cats did that =)

I think they know when they find someone special that might love them. It sure seems that way when they come out of nowhere and make your yard home or leave you gifts :)
