This is not my area of expertise, but the experienced members here say that there can be a natural break in delivery. If the mama cat is relaxed and content, then you can afford to wait. However, if the mama cat is not relaxed, then you probably have a problem. Especially since the first was stillborn and she is acting anxious and it's been over 24 hours, I would take her to a vet ASAP. There may be kittens (dead or alive) still inside her. Can you feel any movement of kittens? Do you know how many she had inside her?

Agree with Vball, well said.  Your position seems to be a peculiar inbetween. Seemingly not alarming but As she seems to be tense, it is NOT entirely allright. So a vet consultation is definitely in order. Begin at least by phoning, the vet will surely know what follow up questions to give.  And be ready to rush in if the vet suggests it.

If you cant get telephone advice, take the cat in her carrier to the nearest open decent vet clinic, better than a some free-time practicioner.  Someone who do have gears and is decently experienced surgeon.

How was the stillborne?   Apparently premature, or fulltime, but perhaps big?

With an apparently premature you have a bigger chance you can wait.

Good luck!

I agree, get her checked by a vet.  If there are no more kittens find out how soon she can be booked in for spaying - without kittens she could get pregnant again very soon.

Fingers crossed she doesn't need a section.  If she does she can be spayed at the same time.  Also if she needs one, she may well take time to come round to caring for any live kittens so you will be having to do that to start with.

But what about the rest of the litter?  Did he do a cesarean/abortion/spaying, or are they still inside, awaiting their turn to be delivered?
