How can I inspect their house? I think my neighbor's daughter took my cat!

My brown tabby went missing on 9/13/13 at 7 pm. We all agree that he was taken. I think my neighbor's daughter took my kitty. I found out that my neighbor owns another house in our town. How should I pursue checking that particular house? I could use some suggestions. Thank you!

well you could sit outside the house and watch...and see if you see the cat anywhere....with the girl etc. Or ask other neighbors to keep a lookout on it. or you could knock on the door and just outright ask them...say hi I'm looking for a lost cat...and I thought I saw it around your house...have you seen it? Or you can call the police and tell them you believe they took your cat and have them go over to the house with you...since that is technically theft.

First of all, does your cat have a microchip or some other specific identification? You need to be able to prove that it's your cat if you do find it at the neighbor's house. Do you have lots of pictures of kitty at different ages? Have you put up flyers in the neighborhood so people are looking for your kitty?

I would start by making flyers with pictures, then take them around to all the neighbors, not just the ones you think took your kitty.

You might call the police, but I doubt that they would go knocking on door just on your suspicion if you haven't actually seen a cat at one of the houses.

What is your kitty's name?

Oh what an awful situation! :( I am sorry. May I ask what makes you think that your neighbor's daughter took your cat? If it were me, I would also post a ton of flyers around the neighborhood and the houses. Even around that particular house "in town". I would also go door to door to my neighbor's asking if they have seen my cat as well as door to door near and including that house "in town" that the neighbor's own. I would think it alright and makes perfect sense to go directly to neighbor's and ask. Maybe they don't know he is your cat??? :dk: I do hope that you find him and he is returned home very soon. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thank you so much for all the replies. I adopted my kitty in April 2013 and he has become a very unique cat, is loved by everybody instantly. We live on 2 1/2 acres and only have a few neighbors. All of them have known Lexie since I got him. Everybody always asks me: Where is Lexie? if they don't spot him with me. The day Lexie went missing, my neighbor's daughter was visiting. The next morning, her car was not there. I have posted flyers all over town, have gone from house to house and have done direct mailing. It is very unlikely that Lexie just walked off. I ruled my other neighbor out. There is only one possibility left, and that's the neighbor's daughter. I don't want to start a fight and it would pretty much end up so, if I ask her directly or go by that particular home. I will contact the adjoining neighbors and ask them. I think that's the best idea. I don't like to accuse someone but on the other hand, I have to do everything possible to try to find my little boy.

Daniella - Lexie is a beautiful boy! I don't want to mention this... but upon hearing that he is outside and you have much property with only a few neighbors nearby, could it be that some wild animals live in the area?? Do you have coyote where you live? I do hope that he is fine, though, and that someone has him and more importantly, I hope you find him very soon. Continued :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for Lexie.
