Hello everyone

My cat loves his wet food and still nibbles on his dry food sometimes. Right now he is eating prescription food from the vets and actually loves the food. Lol. But only eats small amounts which is better than before when he wast eating any. I can't seem to remember how long wet food lasts in their dish before I should throw it out and replace with fresh food. And then how long does the food in the fridge last before I have to throw that out. This is the remainder from the can but I put it in another container.

If I could please get your opinions I would be very happy.

Thanks so much. From Adrianna & Domi

As far as wet food in the dish, I probably wouldn't leave it out more than a couple hours.  In the fridge, usually mine is only in there for one day, but I'd feel fine using it up to 3 days.  I've never tried it but others say you can freeze it, if you don't think you'll use it fast enough.

I rotate the foods, so I have more than one can in the fridge and it goes away slower. I find that the freshness stays OK for about 3 days. On the 4th day it gets tired, and on the 5th day it can get spoiled. Buy the right size can according to your feeding habits. Even though smaller cans are smaller expensive per ounce, so is throwing away food.

I've tried freezing the food and it turns out OK, the problem is that you'll have to plan ahead as far as when you'll need it. If I have frozen cat food I'll need to move it out of the freezer at least 1 day in advance so it can thaw.

I have left canned food out for up to 10 hours with no issues. In the fridge, it lasts about 72 hours.

Ooops. Should read:
