Has the cat been to the vet? You said the "vet has suggested," so I wasn't sure if this was a phone conversation or what. I don't have experience with major bone fractures in cats, but some require surgery, isolation, and/or pain management. What has been done for the cat at this point?

Usually cats with this type of injury need to be kept in large crates to keep them from trying to jump and run around.  Is this where you are keeping him.  Not even a bathroom would work because he could jump on and off the toilet, etc.  But wherever he is, he needs a litterbox (low sides), food and water, bed ir blankie, and some stuffed animals or something to snuggle with.  And maybe have a Feliway plugged in nearby to try to keep him calm, and even harp music playing softly in the background.  This is also supposed to be calming.

Did the Vet not give you any pain medication to give him?

for your little one

yes oreo has been to vet, i have got the xrays done there itself. also he has been kept in a crate locked in allowing totally immobility.

also the vet has put him on steroids. just that i have to keep changing his sides every few hours to avoid bed sores.

Now I'm a little confused, since you say YOU have to keep changing his sides every few hours to avoid bed sores.  Is he paralyzed?  Earlier you mentioned he was in pain, yet the Vet didn't give any pain meds (did he perhaps give him a shot for pain while you were at the clinic?  )

I guess I'm not sure quite what your question is for us, since he needs to be "totally immobile" for 3 weeks (per your Vet).  I don't know of any way to keep a cat totally immobile other than to put him in a coma, which is not really viable, IMHO  Unless, of course, he really IS paralyzed, and they are hoping it's temporary and the steroids will reduce any swelling and he'll regain the use of his legs?

No matter what the situation, more vibes coming your way

he ain't paralyzed but the spinal injury is bad enough cause of which he cannot move his lower part and yes the vet has put him steroids course as a pain reliever & is hoping for him to recover and regain the use of his legs. just that we are not sure if he has some nerve injury or compression as if that wud happen he will get paralyzed or face some neurological defects.

my question is how to find out if there is any nerve damage or not? or is it too early to find that out & i should wait for his steroid course to get over with?

i am pretty tensed regarding oreo and his wellbeing....do cats usually recover or they dont cz i am unable to guess any vibes off the vet?? :(

Naturally you are tense and worried about his well being.  Who wouldn't
.  I'd be frantic if it were one of my babies, and, as a matter of fact, one of mine actually went over the upstairs bannister one morning right in front of my eyes and nearly gave me a heart attack, but he was able to somehow bounce off an opposite wall and then some steps  so kind of zig zagged as he came down and landed on his feet without any damage, thank goodness.

But back to Oreo, I think it's probably too early to find out about nerve damage, and that's probably why you can't get a read off your Vet...he simply doesn't know anything yet.  I'm guessing it's the same as when humans have a spinal injury.  It's kind of a wait and see deal.  Let's just hope his temporary paralysis is caused by swelling and once it goes down, he'll be okay
.  In the meantime, just keep doing what your doing, everything the Vet says, and pray that he completely recovers.

Here are more healing vibes:

Keep us posted on his progress, poor little guy.  If he's in obvious pain, maybe they can give him something more for it, other than the steroids?
