I think you're referring to L-lysine, it's an amino acid that helps the immune system. It's normally used for cats that are carriers of the herpes virus which is one of the major causes of reoccurring upper respiratory infection in cats. The normal dose is 500 mgs a day and can be upped to 1000 mgs when the cat has active upper respiratory infection.
I have some, it is L Lysine...64 was born around July 4th so the vet thinks, 2 weeks ago she weighed 2.7 lbs....I started giving her some tonight...she does have the virus...she also had an ulcer in her eye when we got her, it has cleared up but maynot ever be 100% and now it's in her other eye....can she be around other animals ? My daughter has a 14 year old shi Tzu that is her baby, could he catch ? Will 64 get better soon ? I hate she feels bad, though she is eating and playing ....
