A small breakthrough? I hope so!

Last week I posted about my two feral girls in my enclosure, I think a small step has been made and I am so thrilled, yesterday I wanted to put fresh straw in the Feralvilla shelter that they are constantly in. I carefully lifted the lid, talked softly to them as I always do, they both went underneath and I put fresh straw on the top floor.

I rarely see them, but do occasionally see Mia, she is the more feral of the two. This morning I went out a little earlier than usual and saw Olivia sitting on the second level if the cat tree! As I got closer to the enclosure, she jumped down and went into the shelter, but the fact that she was on the tree truly thrilled me! She wasn't pacing to find a way out, but sitting and enjoying her new surroundings. All I want is for them to feel safe and secure in there and know they will be fed and cared for to the best of my ability.

I know it is a small step, but I am so encouraged for them. I want them to be happy, not scared and living afraid in a shelter all of the time.

:woohoo: :jump: This is a HUGE step in the right direction and you should be encouraged and PROUD!!!!!!!!!!! :D :clap::clap::clap::clap: :D I know that I am !!!! Don't you just love it, that feeling of elation, assurance and confidence proving that you are doing the right thing for them! And, that you are. :bigthumb: I think this is only the beginning of the wonderful little signs you will be rewarded with when the girls begin to "emerge" like little delicate flowers. Sorry for the gushy words, :lol3:, but I know how exciting and what a relief this is for you.:clap:

I think that's great progress! I am so happy for you. It sounds like they are adjusting.

Lauren, I was tiring not to gush when I posted! I have such a bond with those girls, I just want them to be happy in their new place! I can't imagine how afraid they must have been, and I felt to blame. They had no idea the danger they could have been in, they just know I took them away from the only home they knew.

It's always great to hear good news!  Small steps are always great news for a feral.  I always believe that I never witness many of the steps as they are so small, but for a feral the steps are GIANT!!

Thanks so much for sharing.

Oh please, gush away !!! :D :lol3: It is a release that you SO VERY much deserve on this one. From the beginning, you have probably been filled with anxiety, worries and concern over this whole transition for the girls even though you know this is the best scenario for them. The worrisome part is that the girls don't know YET, that this is the best for them and they are learning day by day that LIFE IS GOING TO BE GOOD! They are the lucky ones to have had you looking out for them. You have done a great thing for them despite all of the trials/tribulations that you went through to get to this point. It can only get better from here and the bottom line is they are safe and you can be worry free about that now. :hugs:
