A quick Hello--

just joined and haven't had much of a chance to explore yet, beyond the 'curly tailed/ double jointed tail' posts.

Here are Ziggy and Milo, brothers (from same litter) that I adopted from Batterseas Dog and cat home (in London) October 2011 when they were 3 months old.  They are pair-bonded and very sweet natured.  Ziggy is slightly more extrovert, Milo hides from strangers, but is extremely bonded to me and seems to be the 'alpha-male', albeit very protective of Ziggy.  Milo seems to have some Oriental cat features;  Ziggy has a tail that curls over his back, except when scared (at the Vet's...)  and when he was in quarantine --  they emigrated with me from London in January and while quarantine staff are very nice, 'the boys' were miserable.  Recovered now!  Milo is very intelligent and I'm sure understands English...  Ziggy prances about and talks to himself.  He's partial to 'singing' at about three in the morning.  They became quite nocturnal during their quarantine stay (a good way to avoid the attendants and hide in their 'igloo'.)

If anyone is relocating to Australia, I am happy to share information about bringing cats into the country.  Probably there is already lots of information about this on the site that I have yet to find!

Hi Loungecat, and welcome to the site!

Your boys are gorgeous.... and your advice on quarantine here in Australia would be really appreciated...it's great to have that kind of information.

Even though it's quite a thing for the cats to go through, I'm sure they're thrilled to be with you in your new home.

Thanks, Mani.  Yes - the boys are settled in now; quarantine is obviously necessary, but stressful for the cats --  and owners!  Six weeks is a long time...  but it used to be 6 months in the UK which must have been awful for all concerned.

Yes, I remember the six month thing.  A friend took her cat back to the UK from Hong Kong years ago.  It was awful and so difficult for all, even though there were 'visiting times'. .. I think that just made it harder.

I've had a closer look of your 'montage'.  I just love that centre shot of the two of them together..
(they're all great shots..)

I did wonder whether it was a good or bad thing to visit my cats in quarantine.  (Do they feel worse when you leave?) My vet in London moved from South Africa and his cat was in quarantine for 6 months, he did think visiting them was better...  but who knows for sure?  (His cat wouldn't eat, so yes, I think she needed to see him.)

Ziggy and Milo do adore each other. Very different characters but very close.

Your cats are gorgeous --  I'm not sure from the pics how many you have! The lovely violet-grey ones are very elegant - what type are they? Very friendly looking also if that makes sense.

They're Russian Blues, Loungecat.  I just have the two of them.  And they're very friendly to me as they bond very much with their humans.  I get them to socialise a lot so that they are the same with others.  They don't adore each other, but I think they'd be lost without each other, if you know what I mean.

The other pussycats I photographed for the AWL up here to use on their website... they'll all have their forever homes now.

Russian Blues -- aha. They are lovely. I've only seen them once in 'real life'. Interesting cats that really bond with their humans. Mine are are like that, especially Milo, which makes me think he has a bit of Burmese (or similar) in him.
