Hi Cal Lovers,

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about 3 orphaned kittens that I took in when they were less than a week old. Now they are 3 months old, and ready to go. I have been advised not to let them out to a non-fenced outdoor garden, I have tried to find people to adopt them, but I had no luck so far. So now I am trying to get an announcement posted on a popular animal shelter's website/facebook.

This is the first time I do this, so I could use some help:

In addition to the basics (age, gender, character) is there anything else I should mention?

Should I add anything about what kind of adopters they would need?

And when someone comes through - what should I look for?  How ideal can/should I be?

I know the mentality of people here... most of them get pets as toys and when they get sick they throw them out or if they scratch they beat them... and so on...

I am worried...

Thank you for any advice you may have

Here are some photos of the kittens

I definitely describe the type of adopters I am looking for.  And if I get any vibes about the people who inquire, I do not adopt to them.  I usually try to do a home visit and have a friend accompany me.  I have been lucky, as most of the time, friends of friends have adopted my fosters.

Have they been spayed/neutered yet?  It might be better if that's done first.  Then you don't have to rely on promises that may not be kept.

Good luck.  It's difficult to find homes but nothing will make you feel better!

I would not adpoted a kitten that was fixed before 6 months. You would only to crate more problems down the line. The people whom would tell you to do such don't care about the long term effect on cats. Ask your vet about the long term effects on fixing them early on before 6 months. Sure their will be people that would still try to do it and have people adopt their cats. But I am not into adopting kitten that will have problems down the line sorry end of story.
Now for your Kitten posters. Do talk about any shots they may have gotten from a vet. I like hearing the stories said form a kitten/cats point of veiw. I think it is cute and garbs my attion. I like picuters on posters to as you might have seen here on this site of cat lovers witch your trying to target cat lovers to adopt a cat all look at kitten picture and think their cute. Talk to the people about their ideas and what type of life they would give that kitten. If they have other pets. They should do well with other pets to seeing how you have 3.
I guess it really come down to what type of person you are looking for. Then a give and take on the people that reply.

What problems are you talking about? Early age altering is supported by major veterinary associations including:

• American Veterinary Medical Assoc.

• Canadian Veterinary Medical Assoc.

• British Small Animal Veterinary Assoc

• European Society of Feline Medicine

• Feline Advisory Bureau (U.K.)

• Winn Feline Foundation

Here's the full text of an article written by a vet discussing early spay/neuter in cats:

I do see their is a debait on early fixing though. I wanted to do eary in fixings In my kittens. Though the vet told me do to the fact that their the kitten were still dovalping down their it is not a good idea. Also that it was not a good idea for the mother to get fix while in heat do to the swelling down their and would make it harder to operate.
But you are right their are places that do suppoert it. Once a kitten is big enugh.
Why my vet told me that other then the listed reasons I don't know.
But it is a mood point to fix mine right anyway do to having just got over ring worm or that I see under black light. I am getting them checked again on the 9th. Then I will see if they can get fixed.
wont fix them till I am sure the ring worm is gone. That all I would need can being cut openfor ooperating then having ring worm get in side the cats. It would ate them form the inside out. if it is ring worm at all. black light testing is only 50 50 other tests need to be done.

I haven't neutered them yet because my 13 years old cat is struggling with a tumour and the treatment costs are so high. I am dividing pet costs by priority now...

Some part of me still thinks I am abusing them (them being free creatures and not an "ownership") if I spay/neuter them...but that's a different story. We will soon operate I guess.

What I am worried about now is the adoption... I feel forced to let them go, but the circumstances are stronger than my wishes

I see so many kitten adoption announcements including so many beautiful kittens. I am not sure how will it go... I am also not sure will they do when they are separated.

And what if they dont find someone to take them before I have to leave the country? And how will I know if they are well taken care of....

sometimes I regret fostering them. if I knew it was going to be that hard to see them go....but again, we had no option...

I sent the email with lots of description and images to the shelter today. I am anxious.

I know I know. I probably read every blog, thread and research out there about the topic... it is just my vegan ideals of animal liberation... but I understand the need for it. Anyway the shelter helping with the adoption has it as a MUST requirement.
