Hi everyone,

I'm asking a question on behalf of my worried mother.

her 3 year old cat "Boof", since yesterday, has stopped jumping up on the lounge/bed etc. He just seems to pull himself up with his front paws, and climb. Dad thinks he has just pulled a muscle or something and should be right in a few days.

He is desexed, up to date on his vaccinations, and is an indoor only cat. he is eating & drinking normally (and with as much vigour and enthusiasm as always lol),  he still bats his toys around like normal etc, although he doesnt run around he jsut seems to be walking everywhere. usually he does zoomies occasionally through the day. Other than the no zoomies, and pulling himself up rather than jumping, his personality has not changed at all. He seems to be walking normally.

Could my dad be right? We've made a vet appointment for Thursday. Any suggestions about what it could possibly be in your opinion would be appreciated :)

Thanks for your imput.

I think you need to wait to see what the vet has to say.  I'm really glad you're taking him in as it does seem that something is amiss.  It indicates a lack of strength in his back legs and/or hips.

Sending some
to Boof.

Let us know how you get on.

Your dad could be right and it will clear up on its own, but it's a good idea to get Boof to the vet for a thorough check over.

Hi guys,

thanks for the responses!. We took boof to the vets today, as a spot opened up. The vet thouroughly examined his legs, squeezing pulling etc, ran fingers down spine, did the usual check up stuff. Boof showed no signs of pain or discomfort. Ultimately the vet was stumped. He gave us some anti inflamitories to give him once daily and said if things havent changed in a week bring him back for some X-rays. The vet said he seems healthy, and normal. So i guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. I'll keep you updated
thanks!

Ps, Mum is feeling relieved, albeit still a little worried.
