I bought Dial recently, and it's really drying out my face.. it makes me really itchy. I bought it because it was on sale. With the upcoming colder weather, I know Dial will really do damage to my skin.

Now I am looking for good soap for the shower that won't dry my face out so much.. is Dove proven to be true as their advertisements?

What soap do you use that moitsturizes your skin? Previously I used the goat soap that someone gave me for SS last year.. it was great!! I need to find more.

FYI, I do use lotion after shower, but it doesn't help much after Dial!

I use Dr. Wood's Pure Black Soap on my face because my skin is sensitive and acne prone. For body I can use pretty much anything. I like to use oils/butters occasionally after a shower to lock moisture in.

I use Sebamed, which is soap-free and doesn't contain preservatives. I generally buy the liquid rather than the bar "soap". Another thing I use regularly is shower gel and body butter from the Body Shop or all-natural cleansers and lotions from Weleda or Dr Hauschka.

l use any old cheap shower gel on my body - whatever's on sale and smells good.

But l do use Dove on my face. l love the smell and the feel of Dove, the white scented bar. The only problem with it is that it is so soft that it gets used up very quickly. But it does seem to moisturize as well as the ads claim.

I use Sandia Soap. I found it on a trip to New Mexico. They are extremely strong scented, lather well, are soft and creamy (from the oils) and a pleasure to use. They are handmade soaps. Pricing is on the cheap side--for a handmade soap. Typical rates are $6 for a 4 oz. bar; Sandia Soap is $6 for 6 oz.

Dove or Oil of Olay. But for washing my face, I've used Noxzema for many years. Just love it!

I used to use Oil of Olay shower gel. But then I discovered Nivea Happy Time in citrus scent. I love citrus scents!!! I couldn't resist trying it. I was hooked from the beginning. My fear is that it will be discontinued, as all my favourite hair and body products tend to be.

I looked at this website and it claims that a bar last about five weeks for one person.  If that's true they are reasonably priced for a handmade soap.  A lot of them are six ounce bars, I guess from what it says that's a recent change.  They have a $30 minimum order so that would mean buying 5 bars.  When you say they are strong scented are they scented to the point that they are overwhelming?  I'm not sensitive to scents but I wouldn't want something that is to the point that it's sickening.

I tend not to use soap on my face but use just about anything for body: shower gel or soap. Love nice scents.  Sometimes get dry, itchy skin then pamper skin with oatmeal - either raw rolled (porridge) oats in a muslin bag and used like a soap bar, or the Aveeno moisturizing products after washing with unscented soap.  You can use E45 cream instead of soap too and that's good when weather changes and skin starts to get irritated.

Using the basic rolled oatmeal in a muslin bag is mega cheep and works amazingly well - it's whatever is in oatmeal that they extract and use in the Aveeno products used for exzema care.  It coats the skin somehow and protects it, your skin feels really soft if you use it regularly.

I use any shower gel that smells good. Especially if its coconut or vanilla scented. Mmm!

For my face, I alternate between just a washcloth and warm water one day and Clean and Clear Morning Burst the next day, when I shower. I follow both with Vaseline Cocoa Radiant lotion or Vaseline extra strength. I find both work very well. There is unscented too, if you have allergies.

I'd say the five weeks estimate is about right.

I have an extremely small bathroom--one of those with barely enough room for a tub, toilet, and wash basin. If I put a bar of Sandia Soap on the basin I can smell it as soon as I enter the bathroom. If you were to purchase some soaps and put them in the car trunk and drive around all afternoon, you'd be able to smell them as soon as you open the trunk. I like the scents, though, and they have never bothered me. I pick mainly the sage and woodsy/outdoor-type scents.

I love Kiss My Face woodland pine and ginseng scent. It smells so good, almost like sandalwood, and makes my skin super soft. Only it costs $12 a bottle. Yikes! I treat myself twice a year (birthday and Christmas ) and when I run out, I try different brands. All the kiss my face products I've tried are great, just so pricey.

Long ago we used Zest. My husband like Dial Gold. I used body wash. You can buy Suave  or Clear Basics at the Dollar Tree of Family Dollar for $1.00. So I have hoarded Body Washes lately. I have a problem every time I go to the store I pick one up. I have about 30.

I tend to buy handmade soaps at craft shows or specialty shops or use Shower gels.

As someone w/ a background in skincare,
noooooo Karen,  don't use Dial on your face! Soap in general is not ideal for the face. No wonder it dried you out, that stuff is harsh. IF anyone has to use soap

on their face, Dove is better.  I'd suggest a gentle facial cleanser for the face. (The Neutrogena Naturals are nice & last a while, only about $7.00).

The soap/body washes I use vary. Depends on time of year, sale, mood, etc..  I tried something new a few months ago because it was on sale.

It was the Caress  exfoliating body wash, Burnt brown Sugar & Karite butter.

I loved it so much, I bought it again!  ( It smells really yummy!!!)

I also am using a bar of  One With Nature (Dead Sea Salt & Minerals, & Shea Butter bars). I have the Rose right now. It's really nice to use at the end of a day.  (Found at natural food stores).

They are really large bars. The reg. price was 4.49 & I got some when they were on sale for 2.99!  They are so big, they last a long time. (especially if your not sharing w/ anyone).

I also found a soap locally made that I love because it's Sandalwood,  Patchouli, & Vanilla! Looove that one!! (it's expensive, so that one is an occasional splurge).

I like the Neutrogena Naturals for my face.

I use either shower gel or smelly soaps from the natural foods store (usually goat milk based). I have an addiction to smelly soaps ;), and I usually keep them in my clothes drawers for freshening, but I have to use them now and then (so I can buy more! :lol3:). I like citrus scents, particularly bergamot.

But for my face I use a specific face wash. I think I have Olay right now, but I'll buy whatever looks good and doesn't cost too much.

I love the goat milk soaps too.  I got a lemon one from whole Foods this summer. It was really nice after cleaning a house for 3-4 hrs. in the heat of the summer & coming home drenched.

It was very refreshing!

Currently using up Philosophy's "Vanilla Birthday Cake" 3in1 body wash. It is nice, but isn't my favorite though.
