Really nice tank. I too, am into fish a lot (my specialty is pond fish aka carps). I always wanted a salt water tank - I don't have quite the space now unfortunately. Looking forward for more photos!

Fish are so soothing.  I could just sit and look at fish tank for the longest time.  Congratulations on starting a new tank.  And thank you for sharing pictures with us.

You have fishies in there now?

Cassie looks so cute inspecting the crab, and a little bit surprised when she looked into the camera.  Kind of got caught with her paw in the fish tank so to speak!  lol

I'd love to see more pictures too!

You know what would be cool?  A coloured light like a light blue, or is that not good for the fish?

When my friend was married to her first DH, they had aquariums.  They got the cutest little starfish that came with some coral they bought to put in one of the tanks.  They didn't buy him.  He just showed up one day after they put in the coral.

Oh wow!  The light sure makes a huge difference!  It looks so peaceful and calming. The colours on the rocks really pop.  Once you get it all finished and the fish in there, it's going to be so beautiful!  So nice of you to install "live television" for Monet :)   hehe

the light does make a difference! And it will help the corals grow. I am going to take my water in to my fish store to make sure its OK for me to purchase my first coral today :)

I got two Peppermint Shrimps last night. I forgot how energetic they were!

I stuck my hand in the tank to fix a rock, and they both immediately came out to clean my fingers. Startled me, but it tickled!

Here's a pic, it's hard to take pics since they won't stop moving! (they're probably harder to take than cats)

So you found a "shell" of who they used to be? LOL

Dumb question, but how exactly does one add the corals and stuff like that? Is there any control over placement?

The corals comes on little rocks, they are attached to them. I can put them anywhere. They can grow like plants and spread. Some corals can move around, like anenomes

They're so tiny! :D

I took a coral reef ecology class back in 2007 or 2008, so I knew what happened in the ocean but not how to start them in a tank. Cool! I guess you have to be really gentle placing them? Do they migrate to other areas of the tank? Do some compete for space?

AJ, too bad you're so far away.. I have extra tanks I could send, lol.

Peaches- are you referring to corals? Think of them like plants. That's what they act like (Though they are animals)

Yeah, the corals. In the reef systems some will compete for space. When I went to Belize it was interesting to see which corals were coming back faster from the coral bleaching of El Nino, vs the corals that were then attacking them to take over the spot.

I am sure they do compete. I know most corals will sting others if they get too close! I do have to keep several inches in between them at least
