I was so nervous about my French classes. This is the first serious course I've taken since I graduated nursing school, so my stomach was absolutely tied up in knots to the point I thought I was going to throw up! I wasn't even that nervous going into nursing school! LOL
I made it through all right though! It was very basic beginner, and I realized how much I had forgotten. Other than numbers, months and a few select words, I had no clue what she was talking about, but it came together at the end somehow. The book and work book we got are entirely in French.
I downloaded a couple of free apps for my phone (dictionary and translator).
When I got home I pulled out my "Living Language" French Course and spent around an hour reviewing the flash cards from the CDs. The book with that course is pretty step-by-step with a voice lesson for each lesson in the book. Basically you work through the book learning the grammar and what letters are silent etc. Then you listen to the voice lesson and hear how words are pronounced and repeat the word.
So hopefully between class and this study course I already have, I can hopefully accelerate the learning process. Each level has 4 sub levels. So essentially beginner takes a year, Intermediate takes another year, and Advanced yet another. I don't want to be doing this for 3 years!
I figure with the 3 hours per week, plus an hour or 2 of self study at home, I can cut it down to half or better.
