I don't post a whole lot anymore, since it's been a chaotic year for me mental health wise, but I thought I'd ask for some vibes for my baby boy.

The day before yesterday Parker started vomiting. I thought maybe he just had an upset tummy and I waited it out until the next day. When I got up, he was lethargic, had vomited some more and was just not himself. Off to the vet we went. During the exam, he cried when she felt around his lower stomach so she wanted some x-rays done. I had to go to work, so I left him in their care.

Today the vet called and said they had done surgery in the morning. I wasn't informed. (Not that I would have objected, but still). Anywho, they found a "foreign object" in his intestines. I went right after work today to see him. He was doped up and out of it, of course...but he rested his head on my hand when I reached in. He looked so pitiful. I wanted to cry and curl up in the cage with him for the night. She is keeping him there for the next several days to watch out and make sure he stops vomiting and whatnot.

If you have a moment, could you please send some vibes or say a quick prayer for my handsome man. Thanks.

Wow!  I'm so sorry to hear about not only your Parker, but also the other struggles you've had this year.  Did the vet say what the foreign object was?  I'm glad she was able to remove it and I hope Parker does well at the vet's so he can come home to you.  Also hope he has a speedy recovery.

She didn't really say what it was but she is saving it so she can show me when I see her again. Thank you for the kind words. It's been a rough year, for both of us. He was so stressed out when I was in the hospital for 5 weeks...then I come home and gone again for 2 more. I feel so bad that I missed all that time with him. I just want him to be ok and be home in my arm. :(

I hope Parker has a quick recovery. I know how hard it is to leave them at the vet. I hope you have a better year starting now. I'll say a prayer for you both. :vibes::vibes::vibes::alright:

I know what it's like to see your baby in the hospital and you just feel so helpless.  I'm sure seeing you helped Parker to feel better.  Vibes that he's feeling better and back home with you soon

Thanks everyone. I went to see him today and he was much more lively. He is keeping his liquid diet down so far.

What was in his intestines, was a hairball. It was long and rubbery. Too solid to pass or bring back up. She showed me and pulled on it, bent it and made sure I was well aware of it. I find out the damages ($$) tomorrow. I am just glad he is doing well. He was so happy to see me today, I must have kissed him 50 times. He is there for at least the weekend anyway. I think he is going to be fine though. Thanks for thinking of him guys :)

This is how he looks today. Up and moving!

Awww!  Poor little guy.  Glad he's doing better!  Guess now you'll have to work on reducing the hairballs.  Did the vet give you any suggestions?

I'm SO glad he's doing better! :rub:

Wow - that's some hairball! You might want to read this thread about how to prevent them: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/250653/egg-lecithin-for-hairballs

We feed at least one egg yolk weekly and give 1/2 a capsule of egg yolk lecithin twice a day to our cats prone to hairballs. This has eliminated them almost completely. During shedding season, the kitties with the worst problem need either 2 - 3 egg yolks per week, or a full capsule of egg yolk lecithin twice a day.

I hope he's home with you soon! :heart2:

Wow!
Poor baby..... Hairballs freak me out.... A cat from the blogosphere died with one stuck on its throat as it was trying to pass it :bawling:
Parker was lucky....
Like Laurie, I also manage my babies hairball issues with egg lecithin.... They still have them though.... But they are lose and smaller. Bugsy has ibd, and I have a feeling Lucky might have it too- those are the only kitties here with hairball issues.
Hopefully now that I started balancing their meals with alnutrin, which has egg yolks, they will not have as much issues :cross:
Many, many vibes for both of you :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Thank you for the egg lecithin suggestion. I will have to try that for sure.

I try to keep up with brushing him but with the FHS, he is constantly licking himself so he ingests sooo much hair. I have to do something though. I can't risk this happening again. The hairball that she showed me was horrible. No wonder he was vomiting so much and in so much pain. I feel bad that I didn't know or tried harder to make sure he wouldn't have a problem like this. I just want him home so I can smother him in kisses and squeeze him. Well, after his belly is healed, of course!
