Hi All -

Our cat does not like wet food.  Is this a problem.  If I put any out for her, she eats only the "jelly" and leaves the rest.  She survives on dry kibbles (usually Eukanuba) and voles she catches (sometime 4 a day!)  She seems healthy, but her inner eyelid seems to be getting bigger and bigger.  I know the inner eyelid thing can be caused by numerous reasons.  Should I worry that she doesn't eat wet food?

Thanks!

My first three cats were like that so I gave them dried food and we never looked back. Whisky lived to be over 18. And they're house cats. Whisky and bighty eat pro plan for kittens.

If she's an outdoor kitty, it could just be she got something in her eye when exploring outside. Or sometimes cats might accidentally poke themselves in the eye when they itch their faces. So the third eyelid thing is likely nothing to lose sleep over unless i gets really bad really fast.

As far as not eating canned food, I don't think it's a bad thing, so long as she is eating something. Which is sounds like she is and she just prefers the dry stuff. My Kip is kind of like that too...sometimes he would only eat the gravy off canned food and leave the rest, but he also has hepatic lipidosis and it's a total crapshoot what he will eat on a given day. Some cats will eat absolutely anything (like my Caspurr when I still had her) and some are more finicky. As long as your kitty is healthy and eating, I'd say don't worry about it and just stick to kibbles. There's no sense in buying canned food when the food part gets left behind.

I wouldn't worry as much about eating only dry food as the inner eyelid getting bigger (showing more?). That is a sign of some kind of problem that needs to be addressed by your vet. I welcome you to TCS and invite you to introduce yourself and your kitties in the New Cats on the Block forum.
