I just want to share and get your opinion about this. My kitten (4 months) is quite picky with food. It's so hard to get the brand that he will stick with and other brands that can serve as alternative.  But anyway, my observation is -- more an outright curiosity than a concern -- is that when I offer his food from my hand, he eats it. But when I put back the same food into his bowl, he wouldn't.  Can anyone explain that behavior please? Is he just being playful with my hand? How can I get him to eat properly?

Well, there are a couple of possibilities I can think of. Eating from your hand may feel like a treat or something special. There may be something about the bowl he doesn't like. You could try a different style bowl, maybe something with lower sides as some cats don't like their whiskers touching the sides.

Sometimes extreme pickiness can be a sign of a medical issue. Yes, some cats are just that finicky, but I learned the hard way with one of mine. He wasn't just being picky...he had a major issue about to unfold.
