I wasn't sure where to post this (still a newbie around here
) But I was wondering if any of you knew where to go to get cat food samples? I know you can sign up for updates on some brands, like Blue, and blue sends you coupons in the mail. But what other brands send you coupons for their products? Or even Free samples? I'm trying to save as much money on my kittens food as possible, even if people start thinking of me as a crazy coupon/cat lady!

I know if you sign up with Nature's Variety, they send you coupons all the time. I am sure there others. Do you have any "natural" or "holistic" independent pet stores near you? Many of them seem to have free samples of different foods.

I agree with vBall91. NV sends coupons frequently, sometimes good for a free sample bag or can. Petco also sends coupons for free cans or 10% off, sometimes after you've spent $100.
Very rarely Scient Diet will have a form for a free small bag of dry food (buy bag, send UPC + form + register receipt). Technically, limited one free bag per person/address.
Independently owned pet stores also seem to have a variety of sample bags. I fed a stray/feral cat colony, and always ask for an extra bag or two. [I fed my own cat raw.]

The higher priced independent stores in my area will either take cans back if your cat will not eat them, or give you free cans to try.  I got 3 cans of rabbit one trip (one a big hulking 16 ounces) when I mentioned my one cat kinda liked raw rabbit - free to try.  You might see if any in your area will do the same.  It might not be the most cost effective over the long run, but when you are in the midst of trying to find something for a fussy cat, it can help.  Once you find something they like - you can then try to find it on line or elsewhere cheaper.

You should look into on line pet food - many offer free shipping if you order enough.  But the rub is: does the cat like the food well enough to justify buy a whole case?

Maybe you can team up with some other cat lovers in your area and go in on some orders? You could trade cans within the group to give away what your cat won't eat - maybe another group member's cat will eat what yours will not and vice versa.

Do you have a 4-H program in your area?  They have cat oriented programs.  Also, ask any rescue groups - they might do regular on-line orders.
