I wrote some at your other post. So the kitten is alive.   I guess mom feels she is not ready yet with the other kittens, so she doesnt have the patience to give him 100% attention.  Good you are trying to help it.

Good luck!

My goodness, I don't know how to help other than to say she may need a vet. :(.... You are watching her closely so that is very good and I think I have heard of queens delaying the delivery between kittens. I am not experienced in birthing kittens and am hoping that others with more experience and advice will come along very, very soon.

As for the black/white kitten, do you have some KMR in case mom doesn't feed properly? You will need to hand-feed the kitten. I know this won't help with momma but this site will have excellent advice on kitten rearing. http://www.kitten-rescue.com/

Her previous litter needs to be kept separate from momma and kitten(s), both for safety reasons for newborns and also because cats can get pregnant again shortly after giving birth. Having back to back litters is not good for the health of momma cat. Please get all of your cats spayed/neutered as soon as possible otherwise you will end up with more cats than you can care for. Here is a site that can help you find low cost spay/neuter services. http://www.spayusa.org/

If she still hasn't had those kittens, and you don't have meds to induce labor, you have to take her to the vet, like now!  If they go longer than 2 hours between kittens, there is a problem, especially if she is pushing and they aren't coming out.  You will lose the kittens and the mom if they aren't taken to the vet.  (this is my experience, I am a cat breeder)

It is very hard on a cat to have more than 1 litter a year.  Spaying might cost $40, but the cost of the extra food for kittens is more than that.  Please be a responsible pet owner and don't take on more animals than you can care for.

Yes, if you're sure there are more babies, she has to go in to the vet.  The cats will be big even after delivery.  It's possible that mom will deliver the baby/babies later (most likely dead, sorry) and be ok herself, but if she doesn't end up delivering the babies by today, she will develop an infection from them dying inside her.  She would get very sick and most likely die.

How is the cat mom now?  If she is calm, contend, no troubles - you can probably look and see.

They can have interrupted labor.

If she is panting, in distress, or long fruitless labor, or other problems, you must to a vet.  As 6Crazy Cats says.

Make sure the first born kitten is warm. Does it nurse from mom?  If not you must begin to give it something...

Do you have some kitten milk replacement,  kmr, or goat milk?

Good luck!

Are there other older kittens from a previous litter? OK, I just read your other thread and you said this is her second year of kittens!!!! PLEASE do get all of your cats fixed and keep them completely isolated until you do, even the kittens. You need to contact your local TNR organization for some help and they will be able to assist you or direct you to a local low-cost clinic.

:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: Jessie and the kittens being born healthy. :cross: And more for Jessie in the hopes that you get her spayed and all of the kittens. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

How is the mama Jessie doing?   did she have the rest of the kittens yet?

It is normal that a cat can interrupt labor for a while   and still have the rest of the kittens OK.   The big  thing is if she starts active labor again and is  straining hard  for over half an hour trying to push a kitten out with no success,   she has  to go to a vet.

If she is just  lying around calm  seems  pretty comfortable,  I wouldn't go  to the vet JUST because there was an interrupted labor of a few hours.  you can try giving some raspberry leaf tea.

but if she still has not had any more kittens by 36 hours  I myself would definitely get her to the vet.

( I've been hearing stories of longer interrupted labors - even 3 days  was mentioned on here , which I'd not heard of before.   So apparently sometimes it turns out OK even when that long.   but I am sure it probably starts being more risky as it goes over a couple days delay.  If she has kittens die in her and are decomposing , that can kill the mom.

I agree with the suggestions about separating the older kittens.  Having those older kittens with her might have been stressing her and might have made her stop the labor.  They need to be separated from the mom and newborn.

And if they're over about 4 months you really need to separate the  boys and girls to be absolutely sure they won't breed too.  It's not extremely  likely  that  a pair of  4 month old kittens would  manage to breed .  It's more likely it could happen at 6+ months.  but your family can't afford to take any risk of ending up with MORE kittens.

Re the 1st born kitten.    As Stefan said,  it may be she feels she is not done having the litter,so she can't really focus as strongly on the kitten already born.   You will just need to  keep encouraging her to nurse him every couple hours.  and  get a bottle for feeding kittens and some kitten formula such as KMR,  and feed him yourself if she isn't.

That kitten-rescue.com link  that Ferallvr gave is very helpful at how to take care of a baby kitten.    You will also need to stimulate him to urinate and defecate if Jessie isn't doing that.   That site tells how to do it under "Peeing and Pooping".

Read the part about keeping kittens warm too.    Baby kittens can't  maintain body heat.  so if the mom is not lying with him most the time,  you need to put in something warm,  like a heating pad turned on low and wrapped up in a towel inside a pillow case.   or plastic bottles filled with hot water and wrapped in towels.   Leave a space for him to crawl away from the heat if it is too warm.

Prayers & vibes to Jessie and her kittens

 &

I sure hope you can find a way to get them fixed.    Do try checking out that Spay USA place.

Remember as you get more cats, the cost of extra food for the mom, and then the kittens ,  adds up over time to be more than it would be to get them fixed.  so it's not like you are really saving money.

Can you phone anybody else who knows much about cats giving birth?  Or even dogs, or rabbits??

If yo do know about such a person, please try an phone.

As it seems you cant / dont want to phone a vet?

For many it is easier to talk over the phone  than to write or read on a forum.  Perhaps for you too?

Good luck!
