Hey guys,

I have 2 beautiful 1 year old half ragdolls.

They are both indoor cats - however one of them is ridiculously good at finding ways to escape.

He got out a month ago and was missing for 6 devastatingly long days before being taken to the cat shelter (He was well looked after by a cat-loving neighbor overnight before being taken to the vet, who took him to the council, who took him to the pound and with a few miscommunications I was initially told none of them had seen my cat - Thank god for the whole community getting behind me on my letter drop! Even the paper was about to run a story on him when he showed up!)

Anyway, the reason I mention this is because when I picked him up from the shelter they had just vaccinated him.

2 weeks later the cheeky thing learned how to open my locked back door and ran away again. I was interstate and the lady that found him kept him in her cat run near her 3 kitties for a day until I was back.

When I first got him home I noticed he'd got a sneeze. This got worse over a few days before starting to come good - At this point his brother got a sneeze. 2 weeks lately they are both mostly over it but still sneeze occasionally.

What could this be? If my first cat was vaccinated could he get sick again.,

Neither have been immunized against feline aids. Could this be possible?

Thanks

Well, just a sneeze here and there shouldn't be anything to worry about.  Just like people, it could just be they got something up their nose.   If they are sneezing lots, and seem to have stuffed up noses, and/or runny eyes, similar to a cold, then that's another story.  Is that the case?  If so, could be an Upper Respiratory Infection, or possibly feline herpes

From what you are saying, sounds like they may have caught a cold from the other cats, and are now on the mend.  If it hasn't effected their overall habits (eating mainly), and they aren't lethargic, then you're probably ok at this point.  Now if you can just keep the one from escaping

They were sneezing constantly - every few minutes it seemed, at the worst of it. One of them got lethargic and they both became very fussy with their food (Constantly meowing to be fed, but not wanting most things I gave them). The fussyness is fading, the sneezes are still lingering but maybe once an hour instead of all the time.

My initial instinct is not to rush to the vet as the worst of it is over - But how long should I be waiting before deciding the sneezing hasn't gone and they need a visit to the vet?

Well, as long as they are back to eating well, and everything seems to be normal except for the occasional (hourly sneeze), I would guess you're ok not to take them to the Vet.  But if you see any change for the worse, then I would think it's time to take them in.

Ours were sneezing and with a round of antibiotics was much better. Not sneezing anymore!
