Can you identify this butterfly/moth?

I saw a bunch of these at my parent's today.. They looked like moth/butterfly with extra wings? I can't tell.. anyone know what it is? the wings closes like a butterfly, yet, it also flattens out like a moth. In this pic, you can see it's both up and down..

It's beautiful.  It looks like a Silver Spotted Skipper Butterfly.
