I keep screwing up my update: one more try!!! All three kittens in the "Beuatiful lboys" request have now found amazing homes!!!!!!! THanks to all who did such an amazing job offering moral, etc. support. Fostering these three was indeed harder than expected, but so ultimately rewarding. Buffer went to the wonderful owner of a large company here in town - and in fact, has asked us to come see Buffer (he's renamed him 'Indy") tonight. I doubt if Buffer will remember us since it's been several months, but I hope so - and at least want to see he's in a good environment.

The most amazing - his brothers Pip and Izze - proved much much harder to place. THey "tamed up" but seemed to be so bonded particularly to me that they scattered when the very few people (neighbors, etc) came to see them/try to speed the taming process. But after 3 months, ,y husband said it just had to move on - whether that meant setting them loose (they'd been vet checked and nuetered by then) and if you were following my posts, knew I just didn't think I could do that. But if not that, whtat? Following ideas from this forum, I made hundreds of flyers - and placed them anywhere animal people might go - vets, groomers, boarding facitilitues, other shelters (who were generally gracious) ...even groceries, etc. ---in a wide area! I emailed over 150 personal]l emails, and placed pix, stories and vidoes on my facebook and encouraged everyone to share them along their social network. And then - only ONE phone call!!!!!!! Luckily - she was PERFECT! She could barely see, let alone, pet them the first visit. But between what she'd read, and what little she saw, she wanted Pip and Izze. So ---long story short....we dropped them off there 2 weeks ago. I warned her that she should put them in a small room, and not expect them to want to come out for at least 3-4 days, and eventhen to do alot of slinking. Tod her is was nothing personal :)  So we put them in her bedroom, sat down to dinner (she cooked dinner for us!).....we went back and both had already used the litterbox, eaten, drank, and played with toys THey were hiding, but within a half hour of sitting with them, they were alll over us. And she has conitnued to email ---they're sleeping with her and following her around the house. Who would have EVER thought that --- after neither of thse 2 initialy wanted to even be touched for weeks on end. Now they're her shadows!

So we go see them in a week and a half!

So thanks SOOOOOOOO

O much for being so helpful on this forum! Through suggestions, through encouragement, through personal messages that kept me going. And guess what.....new 14 week old kitten just showed up on our deck :( waahaa...

Thanks SOOOO much for the happy thoughts heartfelt congrats -it did my heart good to know those little guys had people rooting fir them!!!! One update already-this weekend we went to visit Buffer, the orange & white boy
if the litter that socialized rapidly & was adopted first --if you read any of my other posts, you know even that was a little rough--50 fliers out at that point & a big email campaign & the call on him was the ONLY call on him---& the adopter came & wanted him despite Buffer hiding during his entire visit, which worried me a little ad to his motives. Boy was I wrong!!! I'd read that Buffer likely wouldn't remember us (he was adopted mid-July) despite the fact that I slept most nights -at least part of the night -with him & his brothers Pip & Izze as part of the socialization process. Well-we shouldn't have worried!!! We walked into his new home---I quietly called (like I did every day we had "the boys") "where are the babies?!?!" and he came running full blast from another room....skids to a stop right in front of us & looked up at my husband & I like "where've YOU guys been? Pick me up! Run my belly! Wait- let's play first-no-belly rub first!" We spent an hour with him & his new dad-who truly loves the little guy! Even bought him a scratching post (more like a scratching kingdom-complete with hammock!) that's bigger than the dining room table! When we left (after much snuggling, chin scratching, & tears) I knew Buffers was home & happy. In a MUCH better place than that scared, very feral kitten who showed up with his mom & 2 brothers in June! And best of all-his new "Dad" said we can visit anytime....AND we're hoping to go see Pip & Izze this weekend in their new home!!!! I'll keep you posted. I've added a few pics for perspective-1 of Buffer the first day we spotted him, & 1 the week he was adopted.
Tomorrow I'll uplaod 1 we took in his "forever" home. And in other ongoing feral news in the neighborhood---trapped a female tortie we'd never seen before & after asking around, turns out she ("Betty") was Pip, Izze & Buffer's grandma!!! She it through spaying with flying colors, & has found the heated cat shelter already---so one more out of "baby-making circulation!!!" --yeah!!! Now we just have (far as we know) a little trap-shy male----adorable VERY feral solid grey baby -about 16 weeks-with white star on his chest. (Wish I though we could try to socialize him-but he's too old to do with much certainty at all-sadness). But he'll have the benefit of heated & insulated shelter, food, mackerel treats, an electric water bowl, and all the monitoring he'll tolerate from as close as I can come. And who knows? Maybe he 'll decide in is better than out! More on the Pip/Izze upcoming visit & the hopeful capture of Flick!!!! Thanks again to all for SOO much support over the past few months-you've kept my heart & mind sane!!!!

Thank you SO much for linking this thread in your other! I was just thinking about you the other day and was wondering what had happened to you and your boys. I was hoping to see good news at some point but this is just beyond my wildest thoughts!!!!!!!

Serious props must go to you. It is not easy to find the right home for a kitten, let alone a shy one. To get both adopted together was a serious longshot and yet you more than achieved all of this! Your compassion and love for them is so apparent in all you did to find them the right home. And, it doesn't matter if just one person called. It's like finding the perfect spouse: you gotta do a lot of legwork just to find the right one!
And, it sounds like she is their human soulmate and that they are very comfortable with her.

All that is, of course, thanks to you and your hard work and dedication!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats again on making this happen and thank you so much for sharing it with all of us! Any cat who finds there way to your doorstep is indeed a lucky one!

Just wanted to post shots of the two of our three ex-feral kittens we placed in homes (pictures of Buffer were above). We went to visit Pip and Izze in their "forever home" and they were absolutely in the best place they could be. Their caregiver loves them to no end...she's a widower and said that they make the house feel "whole again." Both Pip and Izze were out the whole time - pouncing and running at imaginary bugs, staring out her multiple floor to ceiling windows. And then Izze, after about 20 minutes, actually seemed to say "hey - now I really remember you!!!" and climbed onto my lap!

(having trouble posting more than one picture in a post...so I'll just put one of Pip here, and post Izze in the next).

Pip enjoying his new life!

And meant to note this was our second trip to see Pip and Izze at their forever home....I couldn't believe how they actually look like cats (versus kittens) now! And Pip, who was the saddest little runt, is all sleek and shiny!

And here's a pic of Buffer in his new forever home - he's grown too!

Thanks so much to all for their support on this site - I couldn't have made it through the very slow adoption-finding phase without the support of the members of this site!
