I just joined today, already posted about my cats fighting and forgot to introduce them. :)

I have two cats. Peanut is my boy and he will be 13 next month. He's a big guy. Not overweight just a large cat. Even though he likes to act like a grumpy old man, he's a big, scared, softy. He likes attention only when he asks for it, and when he wants attention he's one of the best snugglers there is.

Angel is my little girl. She's about 6. We got peanut when he was a kitten but Angel was around 2 when she joined our family. She is a big licker and loves to be petted all the time. She's just the opposite of my boy. She seems like a lovable softie most of the time and then she'll snap and terrorize Peanut.

They got along great for over 3 years and I'm hoping that all your experience and advice can help them be friends again. :)

Well, it's possible that something is wrong with Peanut, and Angel can sense it.  Have you had him checked out by a Vet to make sure he isn't declining in health?  At his age, it isn't unreasonable to think something might be brewing, healthwise.  That could explain her sudden aggression towards him.

Another thing to look for is some outside stimuli.  Could be an outside stray cat that is hanging around (I've got that problem right now) or even something like a school bus that drops off nearby, especially if the attacks seem to happen at the same time every day.

I did just have Peanut checked out because he's at a high risk for diabetes and was peeing in my laundry. He had an infection, but that is cleared up now. Recently the attacks happen at night. 11-11:30 approx.

I'm not trying to blame myself, but I wonder if I'm doing something and don't know it. The attacks started when they were laying on my bed, and now they happen after I get home from work (I just changed to 2nd shift).

I don't know know how it could be something you are doing, but I just read your thread in behavior, and sounds like you are going to have Angel's blood drawn and checked just to make sure nothing is brewing with her.  Good idea.  When you are the Vet, however, you might mention your change in shift and that it appears to be happening when you get home, if you haven't already.  And certainly if you talk to a behaviorest they will need to know that, just in case.

I tell you...whoever said cats lower your blood pressure must have only had "good" cats

(and healthy ones).  I worry myself sick over my ill cat, and swear she's going to be the death of me
