Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around here for a few weeks and thought I'd take the time to properly introduce my crew.  I am the permanent guardian to 6 (currently) and the surrogate guardian to 37!  I work for a small rescue in the southern US and it keeps me busy and always looking for tips and advice.

My crew consists of Lucky (15), Jett (4), Jasmine (4), Max (2), Tyson (2) and Sassy (2).  All are rescues.

Lucky was found in a dumpster when he was about 10 days old (covered in ants and fleas.)  He became my "baby" as he had to be bottle fed every few hours.  He is a hearty boy, weighting in at 14 lbs (22 at his peak.) He is suffers from arthritis and has a severe gluten/grain allergy; but, other than that, is doing quite well for his age!

Jett and Jasmine are brother/sister.  They were born to feral parents and there were a total of 9 kittens in their litter (...all black!)  I adopted Jasmine when she was 6 months old.  She is the queen of the household and puts everyone in their place.  Jett joined the family a year later after I found out that had still not found a forever home.  He is a large, muscular boy weighting in at 17.5 lbs.  He is very sweet and reserved.  It took him about 8 months of being in the house to settle in.  It's been 2 years since I've had him and he continues to make improvements. He is FINALLY learning the joys of being a lap cat.   I'm probably the most proud of how far he has come!

Max and Tyson are brothers.  I rescued them (along with their 4 brothers) from a small community that was devastated by a large tornado in 2011 when they were just 3 wks old.  All were sick as they were born into the rubble which contained coal ash, insulation, asbestos and other toxins.  They have chronic health issues as a result (herpes, URI, weakened immune systems, and nerve damage.)  Max has mild hip dysplasia and severe food allergies (beef and rabbit.)  Tyson is cognitively delayed (due to 2 serious viral infections, including Calicivirus...his temp spiked to 106.4) and has recently been "unofficially" diagnosed with FLUTD.  Both are very sweet and extremely playful.  Max is very mischievous and gets bored easily!

Sassy is currently the youngest of the crew.  She is about 2 wks younger than Max and Tyson; but, they don't know it!  Sassy and her sister, Molly, were brought in as stray kittens when they were just 2 wks old.  I fostered them together with Max and Tyson's litter (8 kittens are a lot of fun, and a lot of work!)  Sassy developed a similar viral infection to Max and Tyson when she was about 6 wks old and also suffers from some cognitive delay.  She is 2; but acts much more like an 8 wk old kitten.  She is definitely the baby of the group and sucks on t-shirts when she is hungry, sleepy or stressed.

That wraps up everyone for now. Can't wait to hear about your sweet kitties!
