I've noticed that Oliver as some strange little bumps under his skin. They're small about the size of peas, first I noticed one and now I feel several little ones. I haven't noticed any changes in their size or shape though. They feel soft and roll around under his skin when I rub my finger over them. They are right behind and just below his front legs, on top of his ribs. They are on both the left and right side and you can only feel them when he's laying down stretched out.  Has anyone has something like this on their cat? What was it?

I'm really hoping this is nothing serious...and I know any sort of lumps and bumps need to be checked out...this is really freaking me out though.

That's very interesting.  I've never felt anything like that on my kitties.  I'm wondering if they're lymph nodes like humans??  I would ask the vet the next time you're in for a check up.

I've tried looking it up...but I haven't found anything that really sounds similar. The closest thing I've found is called a lipoma, which is benign, thank God. The fact that they move around under the skin is the most unusual part. The things I've been reading about tumors and abscesses generally say they are fixed and unmoving. I can't see anything on the skin at all, no redness, no hair loss, no pus or blood, he's not itching or biting at it and when I feel them he doesn't seem pained by them, but there are definitely more than there used to be. When there was just one I thought maybe it was a bug bite or something but there are several of these little lumps now. Oliver is due in at the vet in less than a month but I don't think I want to wait that long...

Yeah I don't know...do cats have lymph nodes near the tops of their front legs?

Hi,

It sounds like a lipoma which is a fatty tumor. My cat had one on his ribs and it sounds like you described, soft and moveable. He later developed another one that was just under his ribs so it didn't really move. They are benign. When I took him to the vet he did a fine needle aspirate biopsy and told me right there it was just fat. I'd take him in and get your peace of mind.

Hi Oliver, I have just discovered the same type of thing you have explained on my 12 week old kitten. She has recently had a vaccination. Did you find out what they were on your cat?
