Do you know which two those are?
One is Country Style dinner, and the other is Mixed Grill, both pates in an orange can.

http://www.friskies.com/Cat-Food/Wet-Cat-Food/Classic-Pate-Country-Style-Dinner

They all contain carrageenan and by-products which aren't the best, but for a low cost wet food, it's a pretty good choice. lf l had to feed my cats only a higher end dry food or Friskies with fish wet food every day for their entire lives, l'd go with the Friskies wet. There is no perfect food, even the high end stuff contains something that would be best left out. All in all Friskies and Fancy Feast are decent choices for the low cost, and Wellness Grain Free is better for slightly more.

So stick with the Friskies pate style foods in orange cans. :lol3: The Poultry Platter (which has chicken as the first ingredient vs by-products on the others) also has an orange label.

I've purchased 9 Lives on sale before. I think the ingredient list looks similar, but when I put it out for the ferals... and it sits there for a few hours, it looks like a sponge, it doesn't seem like real food. :dk: I don't know what the difference is, honestly. But the Friskies still seems like... food. :lol3:

If you don't feed it exclusively, it probably doesn't hurt to have it in the rotation.

I pay $0.49 per can for the 5.5 ounce Friskies pate cans at Tractor Supply. I buy the 13 ounce Poultry Platter cans at Walmart for... $0.79 per can? I'm pretty sure that's what it was (and I just bought some two days ago! :anon: ).

The Walmart I go to has Mixed Grill, Poultry Platter, AND Country Style Dinner in the 13-oz cans! But the other Walmart only has Mixed Grill and some fish flavors :(. I've never seen all the flavors anywhere else, although Petsmart does have Poultry Platter and Mixed Grill. At Walmart I pay 98 cents and at Petsmart it's $1.10 for the 13-oz cans.

9 Lives' ingredient label looks pretty similar to Friskies, but for some reason my cats don't do as well on it :dk:. Maybe their vitamin/mineral premix isn't as good as Purina's. But as part of a rotation I think it's acceptable.

I've seen the 13 oz Friskies at dollar tree
So I'm looking around to get the best deal. I'm thinking of getting some Friskies on the cheaper side so I can save some cash and buy her more Wellness and maybe introduce her to Evo
But I've only seen Mixed Gril, Salmon Dinner and Ocean White Fish(?) at Dollar Tree.

I only just recently tried non-fish flavors of Purina One and Purina Pro Plan Classic pates for my cat Caesar (who is very picky) and he liked them. The ingredients are similar to Fancy Feast, and are at a lower price point that premium brands, but they are more expensive than Friskies.

What about ordering the pate style Friskies cans online from a site like Petflow or Petfooddirect ( or there are other ones.)   Sometimes they have  good promotions with sale prices and free shipping .

Thanks for all the helpful info guys! I went to the store and picked up the recommended Friskies, and I got her a couple of cans of Wellness, I also picked up one blue wilderness can along with a Halo can. I even bought her a bag of wellness dry for when I run out or am gone for too long. I noticed on the Halo can that it contains garlic, should I be worried? I've been told that Garlic is bad for cats.

Garlic is one of those debatable things. In very small quantities, it doesn't affect most cats. But for a cat with the right genes and a serious sensitivity, my understanding is that it can trigger the Heinz Body anemia. Of course, just stopping the food with garlic usually resolves the anemia.

I don't know what to tell you to do. Having had a cat with anemia (unrelated to garlic), I don't feed food with garlic in it. But obviously many people do with no consequence.

For me, it depends on where garlic falls on the ingredient list and how often I give the food. Generally, I try to avoid it. But for some foods that I give my cats, garlic is like second to last on the ingredient list and that food is only a part of a rotation of various brands and flavors, so then its not as much of a concern. My two cats that get the food with the garlic do not have anemia, however.

I fed Wellness when it still had garlic in it but a lot of people here said that garlic in any amount wasn't safe.  At that time Wellness didn't get recommended much here but they have since taken the garlic out.  Neither developed any problems but I guess it depends on the cat.

Alright thanks guys :D Your a helpful bunch
I'll stay away from it for the most part. I want to give my kitten a bunch of different brands, flavors, and textures, so I'll give her a can of Halo (which is the one with garlic) Every 3 months or so.
I'm glad I found this site! You guys are so nice and helpful!

When you have a chance, I'd definitely recommend printing out Dr. Pierson's chart ( http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf ) and taking it to the store.  That's how I ended up with all the varieties I've given my cat.  I don't live in a big city, so there isn't a huge selection, but I still ended up with probably 20 different varieties and several different brands.  You could pick the ones that were less expensive.

Cats can't digest corn and most are allergic to corn so that is bad cat food also them saying add milk is bad also that will cause diarrhea and other issues and eggs are okay once in awhile

Grain free/no grain wet and dry are better choices then wet and dry with gluten and grains in it
