Hi everyone!

Is just want to ask if cats get fed up with the same food everyday? Is there such a thing? My kitten had been feeding on Royal Canin Kitten Instinctive one pouch a day and Royal Canin Kitten dry food alongside it.  When I shifted to RC wet food from Whiskas, I was glad that he seemed to like it and was always excited to finish up his bowl. But for the past days, his excitement was less and I felt that he was not so happy with his food.  He would eat it but probably because he knows he has to but I sense that he is getting saturated with the taste. Could it be because it is the same thing every time the bowl comes out?

What do you suggest that I alternate RC wet food with? I thought it was better than any other available thats why I stuck to it.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, cats can get bored with food easily. It's called the monotony effect. It's also a good idea to rotate different brands and flavors and protein sources, especially due to recalls and discontinuations. Also, you want to provide different proteins because they offer different nutrirional profiles.

How old is your kitten? You can feed any kitten or all stages food. Wet food is much better for cats than dry. www.catinfo.org for why. There is also a handy chart on that site that compares protein/fat/carbs for common foods in the US.

Thanks for that info.  My kitten is 4 months old.  Yeah, he has the face of saturation when he faces his bowl.  But he loves the same Cosi Pet Milk though.

Yeah, cats are weird. Some members here can't feed the same meal twice in a row, and others feed the same thing all the time.

With Lox I have to change proteins (I feed raw) every couple of days. Or I have to give her a different topper. For a while she was eating only Wellness turkey (it was cheap when I got it since it was the big cans) but she got bored of it after a month - even with toppers.

You can always mix it up by sprinkling a few crushes pieces of Pitter Pats - they are cat breath mints that are made of liver and cats smoke that stuff up! You can also use pill pockets filed with your cats food as a treat.

Tuna and crap meat are some of my cats 's fav treats- but beware of too much of a yummy thing- my cat weights 17 pounds and he is in a diet right now

Cars can get tired with the same food but I would not worry about it- unless your cat stops eating it all - that when you must go to a vet ASAP.
