I'm new to the Cat Site and have been asking questions about my Maine Coon Linus. So here I go again....

Linus seems to have some sort of food allergy or IBD. As suggested by another member here, I changed his food to Nature's Variety, as they have a limited ingredient diet. His stool has improved tremendously, but still not 100%. I think that I should be supplementing his food with wet, at least once or twice a week. Unfortunately, my pet store only carries the dry formula of the limited ingredient and only the turkey.

I don't wan to change up his diet too much, so are there any other brands (in Canada) that have a similar food (limited ingredients) for cats with this issue?

Thanks again, as always. This forum is great! :rbheart:

I checked online and sent them an email, but unfortunately it seems each store only carries certain ones (and don't have the ability to order in anything different.

So there isn't a store in the list that carries the Instinct cans that you can get to?

I'm not familiar with what brands of canned cat food are available in Canada. There might be a list, I'll take a stab at searching the Nutrition forum. I know there's a list of raw foods available in Canada :lol3: , but I don't know about canned foods.

OK.

Limited ingredient canned foods I'm aware of apart from Nature's Variety Instinct are

By Nature 95% meat foods (single source proteins) - http://www.bynaturepetfoods.com/retailer_locator/
EVO 95% meat canned foods (Venison, Beef and Duck are single source proteins) - http://wtb.naturapet.com/?new=true

Of course, all the sites say to call ahead to the retailer to be sure they have what you're looking for.

Thank you so much! It appears that there are many more food brands available in the states!

Fancy Feast Savory Salmon seems to do the trick for some cats with stomach problems & I don't know why...my friend's cat felt better on it & started eating again without issues...u should never switch their food around too much, they can't handle constant different stuff...BFF tuna & pumpkin is also a favorite & good for digestion...

Hi there I am also in Canada and have a cat with probable IBD. I switched him to an all wet diet and he is doing so much better. I feed him natures variety the regular instinct cans and there new pride line in the duck or lamb flavour. You are right for some reason they do not sell the LI cans here but the regular instinct or pride cans are still very good. Hound and Gato is another good food which is almost all meat and they also sell Wild Calling here.

I would try to find an independent pet food store. They will be more apt to order in what you want. I have a great store near me that is selling pride and Stella and Chewy's freeze dried raw which my cat is on now and loves.

Another option is homemade food. My cat can only tolerate freeze dried raw and not regular raw so I started giving him some cooked food. There is a Canadian company TC feline that sells a product that balances the meat (http://tcfeline.com/)
