No one told me that the kitten shouldn't be exposed to Matt during his upper respiratory infection. they laid together, groomed each other and even stole each others food after Matt started to feel better.

Now I'm wondering about putting kitten on a suppliment for lung and respiratory health, to boost his immune system? Maybe it would even be good for Matt after his antibiotics are done?

This supppliment is designed for kitties who are just starting to catch a cold, to help them kick it.the ingredients are:

per 5ml:171mg of the following:

Rosemaryhoneysuckle,Chrysanthemum morifolimum,Scutellaria biacalanesis, Polygala tenuifolia, Momordica grosvenori, Morus alba

Dosage: 1-10lbs.........................1/2tsp daily

             11-20lbs........................1tspdaily

              21-50lbs.......................1 1/2tsp daily

             51-10............................2tspdaily

             >100............................1tbspdaily

For the record, Midnight isn't sick yet, I'm just paranoid and I don't want him to get sick. He did sneeze a couple of times, but he'd kicked up some dust while he played......

My understanding is that Rosemary and pot mums are toxic for cats. Can't speak for the rest of those ingredients.

Instead of that supplement, what about a probiotic?

Is this supplement formulated for cats and have you asked a vet or naturopathic vet about it? I would always suggest talking to vet before giving something. Here is an article by a naturopathic vet regarding URIs in cats (http://healthypets.mercola.com/site...omes-of-respiratory-diseases-in-pet-cats.aspx). She states she uses
olive leaf, arabinogalactans, lysine and homeopathic nosodes
i would get some lysine it is very helpful to treat URIs and I agree a probiotic is a good idea to replace good bacteria due to the antibiotics.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I have not had success with a homeopathic remedy for kicking a cat cold, unfortunately. I second the l-lysine if you're not already using this. I use a human grade l-lysine powder that I mix with wet food. Vetri-DMG Liquid is an immune-booster and can be used complimentary to the l-lysine. It's odorless and tasteless. I use this short-term when a cat is having a herpesvirus or calicivirus flare or onset of a cold. The Vetri-Lysine Plus Bite-Sized Chews contain both l-lysine and DMG, which they liked, but I stopped using them because the cats were gaining weight and it was cheaper to use the powder and liquid separately. A cat multivitamin, such as Nu-Cat, can help make sure they are getting enough immune-supporting vitamins and minerals. I give Boo a half dose of Nu-Cat tablets, which he takes like a treat, although some cats do not like them. (I don't want to overdo it with the vitamins since he does eat fine, so that is why I only give him a half dose).

P.S. I do not work for Vetri-Science! I just so happen to like their products.

No, I haven't talked to a vet. The cat in question is not ill. I just don't want him to get ill. the suppliment was suggested by someone who worked in the health food store, and I wanted to ask cat people before buying anything.

is l-lysene a medication, or is it hollistic? do I get it from my vet or a health store?

I-Lysine is a supplement they should have it at health food stores, pet stores and even vets sell treats with it in them.

It's just an amino acid supplement. You can buy it at any store that sells supplements, most likely. The health food store is better, as you're more likely to find one in powder or capsule form without fillers.

Some of us on site use this product purchased on-line from Amazon. The cats just eat it right up mixed in with their wet food. I have two that are on it daily. I give it in a higher dosage recommended by Perla's eye specialist for her herpetic eye and it really helps.
