Peaches, the outdoor stray kitty of mine is peeing reddish. She went in her box that is on the doorstep (where she normally naps).
I know i should take her to the vet, but does anyone know what this could be from?

Ginger,

I'm sorry to hear this!! Possibilities are a urinary tract infection, and/or a blockage due to crystals. It is one of those "get your kitty to the vet asap" things when you see it.

Please post a follow-up soon!

URI would be the first guess. Although my ChiChi cat's urine is pink and they couldnt figure out what it was until they did an ultrasound. Turns out her kidney is shrinking (very very little..) due to old age.

It takes Peaches a "long" time to go pee too.
I have absolutly NO money in the bank righ now! We paid rent yesterday and it will be a couple of weeks before any extra $ comes in! I really need to take her into the vet

Maybe your Vet could work out a deal with you about paying later. My vet will charge it until I get some money or will set up a payment plan if it's a large amount.

Poor Peaches! She sounds miserable! I do hope that you can find a way to get her to the Vet. Good luck Ginger & keep us posted on how she's doing.

No to scare you, but we have had several members who decided to wait to take in their cats who were having this same problem and the cats died. Please take Peaches in right away. Talk to your vet about a payment plan to cover costs until you get paid.

Yay! Let us know what the vet finds. Here's hoping Peaches is better soon.

Peaches is back from her vet visit. I had to bring her into the bathroom to get her into the carrier so she wouldn't run away. She did just fine on the way to the vet.
She was really calm at the vet's office. A little scared, but she acted just like an indoor kitty would act

She has a high Ph level in her urine. This is causing crystals to form, and bacteria to form. This is in turn causing bloody urine. He did an xray, she doesn't have stones in her bladder! That is good news! He gave me medicine drops to lower the bacteria and Ph levels, so she should be all better in about a week

Peaches is spayed! She is not pregnant, just fat! She weighs 11 pounds and the doc said she could stand to go on a diet! Not typical of an outdoor kitty. I guess I feed her too much.
So all in all Peaches is doing ok, nothing serious that cannot be fixed with the medicine. Thanks goodness!
Thanks for everyone's concern, now I just gotta get her moved indoors! My other 4 cats not going for that as of yet

Update on Peaches:

She is done taking her medicine. From what I can tell, she is using the bathroom normally now. Its hard to tell since she is and outdoor cat though. She now longer goes in her box or tries to go in the bushes all over while I am out there. I think she is cured YAY!!

Oh fantastic! Peaches is lucky to have you looking out for her - being her guardian
