I have to get some blood work done before I have the colonoscopy next month. I hope it comes back ok cause the doctor had told someone else to get the colonoscopy done and she had trouble with her insides a month later. I;m not getting any younger besides I'm turning 52 in 2 weeks.

Well all went bad ! As I was walking out of the lab  with one of those small round band - aid  after my blood work was done ,  my arm was bleeding again and I got it on my sleeve. Why can't those ''so called nurses''' do anything right ?

The phlebotomist must not have applied pressure long enough. That stinks! Use cold water to clean the blood stain. Hot water can make it permanent.

That's a shame about the colonoscopy that went wrong. I wonder what the blood work would've shown, though?

Yikes, sorry about the ordeal!

I had a similar experience, had blood work done back in August - routine thing, no biggy - but after the needle, the cotton bandage, I was still bleeding, and later I fainted! Never had that happen before. Good thing my mom was the one that was driving, since it occured in the car where I was sitting in the front seat.

Hope the colonoscopy goes well! I can understand about being nervous, though I am sure you will be fine! BTW, Happy Early Birthday :)

I used to feel very faint after bloodwork. I used to have to sit down for a while after and have something sugary to drink or eat. When I got my blood work done when I found out I was pregnant, I had 8 tubes taken at once, I felt horrible after. After being in the hospital for 2 weeks with twice daily blood work, it doesn't bother me anymore.

Hope everything goes good with the results and colonoscopy.

My bloodwork often takes a little extra pressure to stop the bleeding.  I use straight peroxide on blood stains.  Even dried ones!

I won't give icky details; but I'll say that I've had 2 incidents in the past year to really give this a test and it passed with flying colors.  Saved a white bib and an entire khaki toned outfit.

Why ever not?! I consider that young!
I'm looking forward to when I turn 50 or 60. It seems to be the age when it's okay to "not give a **** ".

As my username suggests, I'm all for holistic alternatives, but in a pinch Shout Wipes do wonders to get stains out. I always keep individual packets in my purse, and it always seems to be other people who need them...not me.

What's worse than a blood stain (in my opinion) is when the phlebotomist can't find the vein and has to move the needle around under the skin. I'm really good at getting blood drawn, but that just about does it for me!

I guess I was taken off guard in that regard, after 20+  years of regular bloodwork, with nothing happening afterward say for the usual percuations (It is one of the ways to see how kidney function is doing and all that jazz, also have to take urine test) it was a first to faint!
At least when my doctor told me the results afterward, everything was dandy and stable.
