My cat, Oreo, gets restless when shes inside and she tears around all the time. Just to let you know, she was found at Coyote Corner in Texas where my grandma works at and she gave the cat to me for my birthday. She was fixed too. We let her outside in the dark a month after we got her, and she comes back. Now we have moved to California near the northern coast and we live right by a highway. I saw her doing her business once or twice since we moved, and I lost track of her 3 times, but found her 20 minutes later. So today I was fed up of her disappearing and I haven't taken her out for about 3 days. She went under my moms car, and she went into my neighbors bush. 'Not that much of a big deal i'll go out on the other side and get her.' I said. But when I looked under the bush, she wasn't there. I knew she couldn't have gone down the street THAT fast. After a few minutes I heard a car slam on the breaks on the highway, and I almost cried thinking it was her, but I got that thought out of my mind. So I went inside and told my mom and we looked everywhere outside, and we didn't find her. It was getting dark and we went inside. My family tried to reassure me but i'm still upset. I asked my mom if I could set out food for her but she said that the people's cats down the street will eat it. So now I was lost. I don't know what to do now but ask for help, the how to's aren't helping so I want your guys help. Tell me what I should do i'm freaked and scared..

If Oreo hasn't come back yet, go outside after dark and quietly call her name.  You can take a dish of food with you - she's probably starving by now.  Keep doing this for a couple of nights and see if she comes to you.  Don't leave the food out.  Your mom is right - it will only attract cats and other critters.

Also, post flyers and talk to your neighbors.  Ask them to be on the lookout.

The new move may have disoriented her and she's may not know her way "home" yet.  Good luck.  I hope you find her soon.

Ondine gave you very good advice! If you have a vet that you go to in the area, ask if you could post a picture of Oreo where everyone can see it. That's what my vet does, and they also keep a picture themselves in case someone brings the cat in as a stray. If you are able to, when Oreo comes back, a good idea is to get your cat chipped. It makes it a lot easier o find them if they get away or lost.

I wish you the best of luck in finding Oreo.

We found her Saturday morning and boy was her fur all ruffled. She wasn't hurt at all though, she was under our porch when we found her. Of course, we gave her lots of new food, hugs, and some milk. I never want to part with my Oreo again ^_^ Thanks for the advice though, if she scares me again I know where to go.
