I think Merrick BG is one of the better cat foods. The only objectionable ingredients to me are yeast extract and carrageenan. I thought this line was discontinued though?

I think they replaced them with Purrfect Bistro Chicken Pate and Beef Pate.  I know they are still grain free but I don't know what changes were made.  May not be any just a name change.

On their website they still show the BG, as well as the Purrfect Bistro.  But at my local Petco they had replaced the BG with Purrfect Bistro.  And the ingredients are a little different:

BG Chicken:  Chicken, Chicken Broth, Dried Egg, Yeast Extract, Glycine, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Guar, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Carageenan, Mixed Tocopherols, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Copper Amino Acid Complex, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Acetate, Niacin, Lecithin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide, Cobalt Glucoheptanate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite

Purrfect Bistro Chicken Pate: Deboned Chicken, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Natural Flavor, Cranberries, Calcium Carbonate, Organic Alfalfa, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, Sodium Phosphate, Salmon Oil, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Glucoheptonate, Sodium Selenite), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate), Taurine, Choline Chloride, Yucca Schidigera Extract

Thanks guys, and I'm also wondering how does canned cat food stay fresh? Because the good ones have meat as the first ingredient but shouldn't it be in the fridge if its meat? Also the meat in it is raw right?

Canned food stays fresh because of the can, just like any canned food :D. Once it's opened you do need to refrigerate any portion that doesn't get eaten right away. All canned food is cooked; it can't be raw because the canning process uses high temperatures to make sure everything is sterilized and sealed properly.

Unopened cans can be stored on the counter or in a cabinet for example open cans should be refrigerated for no longer then 2-3 days you can also freeze it but I have never done that

Canned cat food is cooked food I believe
