Hi Other cat lovers,
A while ago I wrote that my Tonkinese cat had a very persistent corneal ulcer and that a veterinary eye specialist had prescribed oral famciclovir, as well as antiviral eye drops and antibiotic eye drops. I would just like to report that a week after starting the oral famciclovir I began to see improvement in his eye. We have been treating him with both drops twice a day, and 125 mg of the famciclovir twice for about 2-3 weeks now and he is almost all better. The best invention of this century is Pill Pockets. My fussy cat actually eats them. If I had to give him that disgusting liquid which the vet first prescribed and which I wasted $50 on I would have a feral cat by now, but this way all he has to put up with are the drops which he is getting better about.
This was a stubborn infection, but I am very thankful for these new medications.
