They may need another dose, as worms can be tough to get rid of completely.  I never worm my pets with OTC stuff - it kind of scares me.  Have they seen a vet for a check-up yet?  If not, I'd take them and ask for a fecal test (they will need a stool sample from each cat).

They were wormed and had flea treatment before i brought them home, and since then they have been going to vet a few times a week for a virus they have been treated for , the vet always examined them thoroughly including feeling around their lower tummy so i would say they have had a good check up i wonder if they had worms he would have mentioned it

The bottom dragging could be the fact that your kitten, Tinker, is VERY clean and trying to wipe off her bottom or that she has tapeworm and is itchy. You would also see something that looks like dried, yellowish rice looking segments in their bedding. The kittens both need to be dewormed TWICE about two to three weeks apart. SO, find out the date of their first deworming treatment. If that date is longer than three weeks time then you need to start over with deworming treatments. You could also have the vet check run a fecal test on both kittens. Although, I think most kittens have worms and need to be properly dewormed in the first place. Tapeworm is a different medication and a one time dose. Regular dewormers will not kill tapeworm. Check with your vet about these things. :) :vibes::vibes:

Hi , thank you , she hasn't done it anymore and i can't see any yellow rice looking segments anywhere , i have emailed the adoption shelter where i am in constant contact with as they are paying for their after care still to find out when they were wormed, they are 21 weeks old now so i am hoping they have had more than one treatment for worms , i also hope they are keen on this as they house a lot of cats and to be honest they us Advantage to treat for fleas which is a prescription flea treatment here in the UK so they are serious about the kittens and cats health care .

Hi, again, a bit of an update here, we went away for a few days on Monday but over the weekend we thought we noticed some worms in their poop so because we couldn't get them in at the vets on time we had to buy worming tablets from pets at home, unfortunately they didn't swallow the tablet as Wellington and  Tinker still had a blocked nose  and they couldn't breath and panicked so the tablet had to be put in their food  , then our taxi arrived and I had to leave instructions for my son to try and get them to eat the food with the pill in It, he said they ate the majority of it but was unsure that they ate the lot. He said that he couldn't see any worms in their poop and that they had loose poop . we got back today and Wellington  still has loose poop but he is eating well and looks healthy.

I am still going to phone the vet to see if they can still treat them as I want to make sure .

Is this too early ?

I personally would never use OTC pet deworming products. Have you taken in a poop sample on both of them? At this point, I would. Then start all over with deworming about 16 days apart with a dewormer purchased from your vet. If you saw worms, then they have worms and the only way to find out exactly what kind is by having a stool check by a vet. IF you don't deworm then twice and about two to three weeks apart, then you will not be eradicating their intestinal parasites plus wasting your money!!!

p.s. Putting a deworming pill in food is not a good idea as you will not know for sure if the medication was fully swallowed or which one ate part or all of the medication. Best to "pill" them or have the vet pill them each dosage if you are not sure you can. Even a vet tech will do this for you at no charge since you are already an established client.

Hi, it was prescription worming tablets from pets at home, they weighed both kittens before prescribing it , and you have to give all the details which is on their computer before they issue the prescription . I haven't taken a poop sample yet but i am taking both the kittens to the vets today because i am getting them both treated for fleas also and i will ask about the worming treatment also. I haven't noticed any worms in their poop so they must have taken most of the tablet and it must have worked ,but to be sure i will mention it to the vet as i have to be careful i have my 19 month grandson staying with wednesday and thursday and he is busy into everything so i don't him putting at risk from worms .

I couldn't give them the worming pill as they both are still blocked noses from the flu and it was difficult to get them to swallow the pill so the only way i could do it was in their food, I only bought the medication to give myself last Monday as it was too late for a vet appointment and i was going away for five days so i wanted to treat them before i went .

Good to hear that it was not an OTC dewormer! ;) I always worry about that. I hope your little rascals continue to get better from their kitty flu too. They are adorable and you are taking such good care of them. :heart3:
